Canadian Payment Services offers a 30 day risk-free trial period. If a merchant decides they wish to not proceed within this period, they are able to be released at no cost or obligation. During this trial, a letter from First Data Global Leasing is mailed to the merchant. The letter reiterates...

the monthly terminal cost, lease term and responsibility agreed upon the First Data/Canadian Payment Services agreement signed by the merchant. The merchant called into First Data’s support center stating that they would like to return one of their two terminals. This call was made over a year past the 30 day trial period. As requested, First Data obliged and sent the merchant a prepaid box to the merchant so they may return one of the terminals. During this conversation with First Data, there was no mention of a stop payment for the monthly terminal charge or for the terminal to be removed from the merchants lease. The merchant only stated that they would like to return one of the terminals as they had no need for two. Several months after the terminal was returned to First Data, the merchant called into CPS “Canadian Payment Services” to inquire about the monthly charge of the terminals. The merchant wanted to know why they were still being billed for two terminals although they returned one of them. We investigated the situation to discover that the merchant did indeed return the terminal and it was received by First Data over a year after the trial period. We called the merchant and informed them that although the terminal was returned, they are still responsible for the remainder of their lease agreement. Only during the trial period are we, CPS, capable of making adjustments to the merchants lease. We offered the merchant to have a brand new terminal of the same model which was returned sent to them in lieu of the situation. The merchant refused the offer. If the current manager on duty was unavailable to speak during the time of the call with Canadian Payment Services, the merchant could have left a voicemail. A manager would have contacted the merchant immediately to assist with any questions or concerns. After the call with the CPS customer service specialist and the merchant ended, our specialist escalated the concern to our Client Retention Manager. Our Client Retention Manager placed a call to the merchant to provide possible assistance such as a rate reduction, a detailed explanation of the lease and why the merchant is still being billed for the returned terminal. The merchant refused to speak any further about the issue when the call was made. If the merchant agrees, we are more than happy to discuss the current issue further in order to come to a resolution.Nataly C[redacted]COO

I have tried to be patient with CPS for months now. I have politely asked them to stop calling us and to take our phone number off the call list. Instead, they have called me back. Daily. Every day asking for me, a business owner, directly. Every day repeating the same sales pitch. I have told them I am not comfortable with showing our financial statements and rates. I have told them I am happy with my POS provider. But they don't seem to care. Instead I get a call. Daily.

What's worse is that when I ask for supervisors or names, or I say I'm going to seek legal council against their harassment, they laugh at me and hang up. I ask for a name. They hang up. It's the most unprofessional thing I have ever seen. And again, this happens daily.

CPS feels like a scam artist and a multilevel marketing company had a lovechild and decided to harass me and take time away from my day for pleasure. This is by far the worst company we have dealt with, ever.

Review: I have been sent emails from this company far too many times trying to recruit me. He refuses to do so.After researching this company, they have been changing their company names every year it seems due to customer complaints and very bad reputation. Response:

Hi,

Thank you for forwarding the individuals concert to us. [redacted] has been blocked on [redacted] and [redacted] so we cannot email him any longer about further job opportunities. We only received one email from [redacted] telling us he is not interested (see attached), and this was received on 5/*/2013. Since then our search engines, being [redacted] and [redacted] had sent us this individual as an applicant to the positions we are looking to fill, we would forward him our recruitment information. Please see email log in the attached. Now that we have blocked his name and email address this will not list for us. This individual has three different resumes posted on these search engines, we have searched them all and blocked each one.

As for [redacted] comment on the reputation of our business, we would like to comment further. We have been in business as CPS Merchants since 2010 and have not changed our name and are not planning to, so we are not sure where he is getting this information from. We have been on Revdex.com for several years, have minimal complaints and are running an A- (only due to time in business). There were several complains in past years but when you have a customer base of thousands of people there will be one or two merchants that are unhappy. We have resolved all conflicts and are proud to say that we are a respected and well rounded business.

If you have further questions or concerns please feel free to contact our [redacted] at the contact information below. Thank you very much.

Review: Receiving harassing phone calls to sign up for their services. I have repeatedly asked them to stop calling, and they refuse. They call from unlisted numbers, or VOIP numbers which we cannot call back, and we would just like them to stop.Desired Settlement: Please have the company Remove [redacted] from its call list immediately

As an existing customer, I thought it made sense to ask these guys to process credit cards for an ecommerce site. The website says "you can be processing the credit cards today" but do not believe it. After more than a month of tracking down the right company, completing paperwork (actual paper has to be written on and FAXED) to various departments. Customer service department will sometimes take your calls, there is never an actual update but instead an assurance that someone will call back but that never happens, after being on hold for as much as three hours, the application will be approved in another couple of days. The website says they have 24/7 customer service for their customers but that is only 8-4 ET Monday to Friday. As an existing customer one would think ît should be seamless to figure out the products and services in my account but First Data took weeks to get me the correct service to be added and then has taken weeks to process the paperwork.

Review: I switched to this company for our debit/credit machine as their rates were cheaper than my current provider. When the rep had come in, he said that the old company would bill me for cancelling the account, however CPS would reimburse the money to my bank account within days of setting up the new account. It has been 3 months now and the $315 has still not been transferred to my bank. CPS keeps telling me that is have in fact been returned, yet I do not see it in my bank statements.Desired Settlement: $315.00

Time Out Beauty became a merchant of CPS in April of 2013. As the merchant described in her problem statement our sales representative was able to provide a saving on her processing needs. CPS helps their merchant with the cancellation fees of their previous processors. This is what the sales representative conveyed. When the merchant called CPS's customer service department looking for their reimbursement for the previous processor cancellation fee, customer service explained the procedure in which this processes is carried out. Once the merchant cancel's the previous processing contract they are required to fax in their proof of cancellation. This proof could be a letter from the pervious provider or a bank statement showing the charge. CPS provides refunds the first week of every month. The merchant complied and sent us in the proof of cancellation in May 2013. Once we had the proof we placed the merchant on the schedule to be refunded the $315 for cancellation of their previous provider. The first attempt to refund was Jun *, 2013. The funds rejected. There was a second attempt July *, 2013 and this too rejected. While the payment were rejected the merchant was notified of this but claimed it is impossible for the funds to be rejecting from being deposited to her account. CPS does business through EFT but since this became a major problem the CFO of the company allowed a wire payment and this was approved/received on July **, 2013. We are providing electronic receipts of these transactions within this response. At this time the merchant has been reimbursed in full.
