Good Afternoon Dave, I spoke with you last week regarding claim #[redacted].  I apologize I have not sent a response yet, I have been extremely busy.  I will have it to you by the end of the day. Thank you, Debbie S[redacted] - cell -- Candyapple & Co. To Whom It May...

Concern,Our landscaping company agreed per signed contract with Greg and Jackie [redacted] to completework at their home. Upon the initial conversations with Greg and Jackie they made it clear toour company that they have had trouble with contractors in the past. We felt we had built agood rapport with Greg and Jackie and a mutual trust level. Our company policy is to obtain half down at the signing of any contract to not only secure thescheduling of the job, but to help with initial costs incurred. These initial costs are fixed coststhat we pay immediately such as material, fuel, labor, insurance & administrative costs. Ourinitial estimate to Greg and Jackie was for $4,970. Greg and Jackie said this was out of theirbudget so we agreed to do the work at their home for $4,400. We also agreed to allow them togive us a down payment of $1,400, this is $800 below the normal half down amount of $2,200.We agreed to this down payment because as mentioned, we felt we built a trust level with themand haven’t had trouble with customers not paying in the past. We consider progressivepayments as normal practice in our industry.Greg and Jackie had picked out a stone that was not the proper stone for the job to be donecorrectly. We asked Greg and Jackie to go to Frank Brothers where they picked out a naturalstone to complete the work. Our company paid for the stone, picked it up and delivered it totheir home. The new stone was more expensive than the original stone that was picked out. This was a higher cost to us. We also cut out the beds, removed weeds, delivered limestone totheir home and started the stone work at their home. We asked for an additional $875.96 tocover the cost of what we had already spent. Greg and Jackie refused to pay any additionalmoney. We tried discussing with them that this was money we had already spent but theyrefused. Our company went to Greg and Jackie’s home to pick up the stone that we had paidfor and Jackie came out of the house with her phone and said if we touched the stone shewould call the police. At that point we left their home and had no choice but to walk away fromthe job. We would have liked to have finished it for The [redacted]’s but unfortunately they did notgive us that opportunity.Sincerely,Debra L. S[redacted], OwnerCandyapple & Co.
