Canoe Cove Marina & Boatyard Reviews (1)

On June during the routine haul out for changing Zincs and bottom pressure wash severe peeling and corrosion due to electrolysis was discovered on the bottom of the boat, Fin, Rudder , The zinc was totally gone and propeller shoed sign of deterioration and corrosion The Boat had to be out of water for TWO weeks in prime of summer sailing seasonThe problem later was identified on the own account of Canoe Cove of a Short in Wiring in the Mast for Radar and new deck lightThe actual damage on Bolts and structure of the boat remain to be known
On June upon my first use of the Boat June 7th to a short trip to nearby Island, I reported inadequacy of water through exhaust and seeing steam like vapor from exhaustI requested an Engine Check and a full inspectionI was billed and charged on two separate occasion Technician fee to inspect the engine compartment (6/15/& 7/8/Upon my first sail of the season with my family we were confronted with huge smoke and water steam coming out from engine compartment and cuddy Not only we had to scrap our planned family holiday, we had to call the C-Tow to get us back to Canoe cove only minutes away after our departure on Saturday Jun 18,
Few hours after pulling to the dock and after waiting to see the Boat cool -down, I discovered that the Impeller was totally disintegrated and a huge hole was developed in my Waterlock and there was flooding signs from steam that had been partially drained by the bilge pump
On June 20, I came to Canoe Cove to give them an opportunity to explain or hear suggestion to remedy the situationI was received warmly by the Wharfage Manger (probably the only reason that I am still at Canoe Cove), He suggested that I meet with their new Service Manager, that I met for the third time He explained to me that there has been nothing wrong with their services that the service man had sat in the boat listening to my engine and everything had sounded like normal I was glad to hear the most likely culprit was floating debris or perhaps a plastic bags floating in the ocean that had conveniently lodged itself in my thru-hull intake and this had cut the water flow to my impeller and consequently burned my Warterlock He also guaranteed me if we lift the boat out of water we will see one of the thru-hull holes are plugged That brought me to the realization that I cannot discuss this issue with this distinguished gentleman as my call for their service department to check my engine and exhaust and witnessing the vapor and steam was totally coincidental and had no connection to what happenedFurther I was bewildered as how my boat was not inspected for the thru-hull clogging if that was a common thing one week before when I was hauled out for pressure washing and changing Zinc and I was even charged for the technician for coming over to hear my engine while I was in the water waiting to be hauled out rather than when I was actually hauled out
The Service Manager theory is whatever clogging that happened had conveniently in those minutes when we pulled from the dock on June 18th, After wasting minutes of my time hearing about pollution and debris in coastal waters near Canoe Cove, I decided to speak to General Manger at Canoe Cove, I found the General Manger sympathetic in person and after discussing the issue with him requested that he gather his own facts and get back to me with his decision As we had agreed he promptly called me before the days end to inform me that he has subscribed to environmental theory and kindly offered to me a complimentary haul out in a date in the near future as it is their busy season and thy are shorthanded and overbooked, He offered that I can bring my own technician and do it at my own expense, which I found very generous
