Canton Pathology Associates is an independent physician practice and is not an Aultman owned business. Nevertheless, we have sought to help Ms*** resolve this complaint. Canton Pathology Associates contracts with APS Medical Billing Associates to provide billing services.
APS billed Aultcare on November 9, for the services provided to Ms*** by Canton Pathology Associates. This claim was denied as Aultcare could not identify the patient in their system. A statement from APS Medical Billing Associates was sent to the patient on December 26, 2016. On January 3, the patient contacted APS and provided updated insurance information and the claim was resubmitted to Aultcare on January 4, 2017. The billing service received full payment from Ms*** on February 7, 2017. The Aultcare payment was received on February 26, 2017; however the account showed a zero balance and the billing system did not apply the contractual agreement. The insurance division at APS reviewed the account on March 16, 2017, applied the contractual agreement and sent the account to the refund department for review. The refund department reviewed the account and on April 17, a refund request was placed. APS provides refunds once a month and this account was placed on the May refund list. The refund check was cut on May 5, and mailed on May 8, 2017.
