Complaint[redacted] Stone performed stone work on my front porch which resulted in damage to the bricks encompassing the perimeter of my porch due to grout overlay[redacted] Stone was contracted by the builder of my home, [redacted] to install flagstone on my front porch on January 16-17, 2014 in accordance with my purchase agreement with the builder. The contract for the work was initiated by the builder, although I owned the home during the flagstone project. Grout was allowed to dry on the bricks encompassing the perimeter of my porch by [redacted] Stone. The brick has been acid washed in an attempt to remove the grout, although the brick vendor who has attempted to remove the grout has been unsuccessful and has stated the only solution is to replace the brick (estimate given for $585, which included a military discount). I have tried by every means possible to have the builder correct the damage by their subcontractor, [redacted] Stone. The builder refuses to do any work relating to the issue of brick replacement. [redacted] Stone's warranty manager, [redacted] met with myself and the warranty representative for the builder on 04/01/2014 at 1pm at my home. Mr. [redacted] said the grout should have been washed off prior to being allowed to dry on the brick, he stated it was unacceptable on behalf of his company and that his company would work with the builder to have the bricks replaced (stating a pallet of 70 bricks would be needed for replacement). [redacted] Stone does not do brick work, therefore I was told by [redacted] (sales associate) of [redacted] Stone that the builder would have to coordinate the necessary trades to have the work completed and [redacted] Stone would be billed accordingly. I have contacted the builder repeatedly about this since it occurred in January of 2014 and the builder refuses to be involved in the replacement of my brick. After the final statement from the builder on 07/19/2014 stating they will be not be involved in any brick replacement, I have repeatedly tried to get in contact with the owners of [redacted] Stone. I have called both the office in NC as well as the headquarters in [redacted] and spoke to two of the owners/partners. I have been told they work for the builder, not me, and that they will only perform/pay for repairs as dictated by the builder. My complaint is with the fact they damaged my home, not the builders home, which they do acknowledge, although will take no corrective measures to remedy the issue. I have informed them of the quote from the builders brick mason, offered to send it to them as well as provided names and phone numbers of the brick mason personnel involved in the issue.Desired SettlementGiven [redacted] Stone does not perform brick work, I desire [redacted] Stone to pay for the work necessitated by the grout they allowed to dry on the brick encompassing the perimeter of my porch. My porch will be torn apart next week (columns and metal railings will be removed) providing and ideal time to have the brick replaced as the only cost would be the $585 quote for replacement of bricks given the columns and railings would not need to be removed.
