Cape Auto Service Tires & Collision Reviews (%countItem)

On July 18, 2018 I took my car to Cape Auto Body for repair. An uninsured driver side swiped my car. I had gotten two estimates of 2,200 to repair it in Florida, however I had my grandchild graduation to attend so decided to have my car repaired in Plymouth. On July 18th I took my car into Cape Auto Body signed paper work which and gave them a check for $558.00 to begin repairs on my car. I asked *** when my car would be completed since I made the appointment to drop it off on July 18 at 8:30am. Ms. never gave me copies of the paper work I signed or did she go over it with me. Ms. told me to rent a car because it would not be competed until the middle of the next week July 25 or 26th. It was a four and a half day job at most. She asked if I had renters insurance on my car. I informed her I may have I really didn't know. I left my car there and never got it back until August 14th. After over 45 emails to Cape Auto Body, paying a $500.00 deductible and getting a 979.32 rental car bill..When I complained about the length of time it took to fix my car I was told it was ***'s fault and *** told me if they delayed anything it was due to Cape Auto Body for saying it would take 4,000 to repair my car. I never received a written estimate on my car until August 1, 2018. I have been taken advantage of due to my age and my car being registered in Florida also Cape Auto Body was very up set I did not have rental insurance on my insurance policy. they continued to argue with *** to get more money out of them. I have pictures of my car and two other auto body places stated it should only take 4 days to repair, Cape Auto Body took 28 days to repair my car and I am stuck with a 979.32 dollar rental car bill. I would like to be reimbursed for the days they did not work on my car. Total of 390.00. *** has reimbursed me for the days their adjuster delayed the process of my car repairs. If Cape Auto Body is a reputable Business they need to do the same.

Cape Auto Response to Revdex.com Complaint #*** dated 8/25/2018

While we appreciate customer feedback, sometimes there are misunderstandings of the process of collision repairs by customers. Unfortunately, we believe that is the case here. Having been in business since 1952, we historically have dealt with many auto insurance companies and completely understand the frustration some accident victims experience with the mitigation process.

That said, here is our response to the complaint filed by ***, with accompanying documentation in the form of attachments detailing the repair process.

The vehicle in question was dropped to us on July 18, 2018 without an appointment booked. This is not normally how damaged vehicles come in to us.

Our initial communication with Ms. on projected time indicated roughly one week, provided there were no issues or delays with her auto insurance carrier, ***.

Please note: Once the repair supplement was finally approved by ***, the repair was completed in one week.

Customer did not request copies of the paperwork she signed. We attempt to be environmentally friendly whenever possible, and therefore do not automatically make copies. However, whenever a customer requests copies, we gladly oblige. She did not.

*** did go over the forms with Ms., explaining that the first form was to authorize us to repair her vehicle, and the second form was for authorizing *** to pay Cape Auto directly if the amount went over her original estimate. These are attached and signed by Ms.. This is standard practice.

The estimates Ms. received in FL were just that, estimates. Once the actual repair was begun, other issues were discovered.

We had to negotiate for more money from *** due to hidden repairs not obvious on original estimate, plus parts that required replacement versus repair. This resulted in a safer and higher quality repair for Ms..

Ms. did not carry rental coverage on her auto policy. *** delayed the repair process, which triggered a reimbursement to Ms. of a portion of her rental charges. Once the repair supplement was finally approved by ***, the repair was completed in one week by us.

All of Ms.’s emails during the repair were answered in a professional manner. They are attached for review. As are our email correspondence with ***.

While we apologize for the inconveniences, we used our resources to best mitigate this situation with the Complainant’s insurance company, as we attempt to accomplish for all of our customers.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

Cape Auto Response to Revdex.com Complaint #*** Rebuttal dated 10/12/18

We refer to our response to the original complaint on 8/29/18.

The customer was informed of the repair process at vehicle drop off, and signed paperwork indicating such.

The customer did not have rental coverage on their policy.

The customer’s insurance company delayed the process.

We used our resources to best mitigate the situation with the customer and their insurance company. Supplied documentation with our efforts in writing.

The vehicle in question was repaired in one week upon approval from insurance.

We do not feel this situation warrants any financial settlement.

I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # ***.

]this company continues to blame my insurance company. They were the one holding up the process of repairing my car. Whether I had rental insurance or not is their business. When my car was dropped off on the appointment date they informed me it would be completed in one week. 28 days later I was able to pick up my car. Please feel free to contact *** to variety this information. Cape auto was to fix my car in a timely manner. Which they did not do.
Sincerely
***.
I have two estimates both under 2 500. Cape auto charged my insurance over 4,000. Something is wrong here.

Regards
