To whom it may concern:
Former Capella learner *** (learner ID#***) was enrolled in two courses during the fall term that began on 10/7/2015: Sociological Theories of Crime for four credits and Interagency Collaboration of Significant Events for four creditsThe learner dropped her Interagency Collaboration of Significant Events course on 10/25/and dropped her Sociological Theories of Crime course on 10/without consulting with academic advising or financial aid regarding the impacts of such dropsAlthough Mrs*** has made the claim she discussed having difficulty in her courses with someone at Capella, we have no record of any interaction with Mrs*** between the time her course began on 10/7/and the dates she dropped her coursesOur first interaction with Mrs*** was on 10/30/when she called the financial aid office to inquire about an email she received informing her that her financial aid award changedDuring that interaction, we informed Mrs*** that her financial aid had been returned due to dropping her courses, and she acknowledged that she understood
Upon dropping the courses, we were required by Department of Education regulations to proceed with a return of Title IV funds calculationPer that calculation and based upon her course participation, we were required to return her unearned portion of financial aid back to her lenderThe total amount that was returned to her lender as a result of this calculation was $This will reduce her overall loan debt with the loan servicer in question, but will remain a balance due directly to Capella
We apologize for any confusion or distress this situation may have caused Mrs***Our business office will be more than willing to work with her to arrange a payment plan that is mutually beneficialPlease feel free to reach out to me with any additional questions or concerns

To whom it may concern: This letter is in response to MsDanita *** complaint #***The nature of Ms*** complaint is that she cannot receive her official transcript due to a remaining balance on her account
After receiving her BS in Business and MBA, Ms*** enrolled in a PhD O&M program in the Summer of During the 2008-aid year, the Ms*** was reviewed for an overpayment twiceThe first time she was reviewed was in March of and the second review occurred in May of The March review found no overpayment and the May review found a $1,combined overpayment with $1,of the amount being an overpayment of subsidized loans The day the May review was made, our financial aid processing team returned and processed a hand calculation (manually adding up the loans in NSLDS) and found that the combined overpayment was misreported but that there was still a $overpayment of subsidized loansTo resolve the overpayment, the financial aid processing contacted the lender to reallocate aid and resolved the overpayment for 2008-and 2009-aid years on 6/30/ In 2010-Ms*** was again reviewed for an overpayment twice, the first of which occurred on July of Both times the combined overpayment was resolved but the lender did not reallocate subsidized funding and there was a $1,undergrad subsidized overpayment in NSLDSThe learner did not resolve the overpayment after both reviews while attending Summer and Winter after she was informed of how to resolve the overpayment and receive aidOn 7/31/Ms*** was administratively withdrawn from the PhD program due to her balance We apologize for any hardship this situation may have caused Ms***, but the balance on her account is due to her not resolving the overpayment as instructed for the terms in which she has a balanceWe encourage Ms*** to contact our business office regarding the past due balance currently on her account, as they may be willing to release her official transcript if she makes an initial payment and establishes a payment planPlease feel free to reach out with any additional questions or concerns Regards, Joe *** Learner Affairs Associate Learner Services & Operations (LSO)

To whom it may concern: An additional criteria to be eligible for a tuition credit is that you attempt to contact your instructor, or in Ms***'s case her FlexPath coach, for an extension or to take a pause prior to entering the billing sessionAs there is no evidence or documentation she attempted to do this, she is not eligible for a tuition credit for the finial billing session charge on her accountWe would encourage Ms*** to contact our business office to discuss options for resolving her balancePlease feel free to reach out with additional questions or concerns. This is simply harassmentThis *** is wasting my time and energyThere is no reason for me to be treated this wayI paid my balance and these people are out of line

I am rejecting this response because:
They are certainly generous with other peoples’ money, especially the US Department of EducationIn my case, Capella is trying to defraud me because a computer was necessary for admission that they implied was a promotional offer and would be refunded upon purchaseI relied on that even though they don't admit it nowThey deceived me and confused me with changing expensive degree programs for which I was unqualified by their own admission policy. Plus, the Federal government was the lender and my balance with them is zero only because I threatened to complain to their OmbudsmanIf Capella continues without satisfactory Revdex.com settlement of discontinuing collection, a formal complaint will be filed in Pennsylvania under the Unfair Trade Practices & Consumer Protection Law, and a complaint with the Minnesota Attorney General for fraudFinally, if they do report this to any credit bureau, a complaint will be filed with the Federal Trade Commission that handles these kinds of collection disputes. yours truly, *** ***

September 15,
To whom it may concern:
This letter is in response to Ms*** ***'s most recent update on case #*** that was entered on 9/14/Ms*** is stating that she interacted with enrollment counselor Kelsey *** in her initial conversations with Capella, and informed her that financial aid was the reason she needed to enroll at Capella due to her needing the financial aid to purchase a computerFrom her initial contact with Capella on 5/19/2015, we have no record of this information being discussed with a member of our enrollment services teamFrom the interactions and records we have on file, we see the root cause that led to Ms***'s discontinuation from Capella was that she did not have adequate access to a computer to be successful in her programWhile one of the many educational-related expenses that financial aid refunds may go towards is the purchase of a new computer, it is the learner's responsibility to maintain the access to internet needed to be successful in their programThey should not be dependent on financial aid refunds for the purposes of purchasing the technology required to be successful in their courseroomThe learner indicates several times in her most recent response that the main reason for her hardship was lack of access to a computer for the purposes of completing her courseworkWhile we attempt to make every accommodation necessary for students having difficult financial times, keeping the access to the courseroom necessary to be successful in their program is the sole responsibility of the learner
We apologize again for the issues that arose from the minor delay in the disbursement of her financial aid, but this error would have been rectified within a reasonable amount of time had she persisted in her courseroomIf she would like to speak with our business office regarding the remaining balance on her account, they would be more than willing to work with her on an arrangement that is agreeable for both partiesPlease feel free to reach out to me with any further questions or concerns

Final Consumer Response /* (3000, 11, 2016/01/22) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
To whom it may concern,
This response from Capella is further evidence that Capella has no regard for the fact that there is a real, living, breathing, person at the other end of their policy which it seems they are dead set on adhering to regardless of any other circumstance
Capella is well aware of the reason why I had to withdraw To restate, I withdrew because my employer will not reimburse tuition for a non-traditional program such as flex path Now I'm put in the position of paying this $balance without any support from my employer, and without actually receiving anything for my money, and if I don't pay this balance I have no doubt that Capella will happily report me to a collections agency and shatter my credit
Capella is a heartless institution more concerned with making a quick buck than doing the right thing To be absolutely clear, I missed the withdrawal deadline (which was unclear from the start as no copy of policy had been shared with me until just a few weeks ago) by a single business day (calendar days) The only policy shared with me up until my correspondence with MrBaumeister was University Policy As far as what Capella is actually charging me for I completed a single assessment in a single course before withdrawing Mr*** takes none of these circumstances into consideration in his response At the very least a reduction in the amount owed seems appropriate
I'm selecting that I do NOT accept this response until Mr*** would be so kind as to explain to me what exactly I did get for my $in his opinion and why I should have to pay for an entire semester worth of courses when I completed only a single assessment in my first course I'd also love to hear why a reduction in my balance is not possible or fair
Regards

This letter is in response to MsDeborah ***'s complaint from case #*** submitted on 12/4/Ms*** is claiming that her tuition request was ignored and that she should be due a tuition credit based upon extra time and money that was spent to complete her program
We apologize for any confusion, but the previously referenced credit request was the only one that was examined for Ms***Examining her entire account and situation with her dissertation, we cannot find any reason why there would be cause to offer her a tuition creditThe dissertation support team examined the work she did with her mentor and found no error on Capella's part that caused an extension of her program that would justify a request for a tuition credit
We apologize for any undue hardship or stress that this situation may have caused Ms***, and if the information regarding her credit request denial was not clearly expressedPlease feel free to contact me with any additional questions or concerns

My workload has increased and I was unable to complete my discussions and assignments. I would like to register for the summer semester.
