I am rejecting this response because:
As my complaint indicates, my issue is in the advisement I received in regards to the cut off. Per the two attached emails, my advisor says both "Keep in mind that if you request a drop after the second week of class you are 100% responsible for the tuition of this course" as well as "If you drop your course at any point after unit is completed you are responsible for 100% of the tuition cost." When I was registering for this course and I expressed my concern over being able to make the class work with my schedule, he said that I had two weeks to determine whether I could make it work so I calendared a reminder for exactly two weeks out from the start date of the class to make sure I made the deadline. Having it stated in different ways is very misleading. I am a very responsible individual and do not take deadlines lightly so I would have made a point to take action appropriately had I felt I was advised correctly. With this information, I feel that it is understandable how a miscommunication could have occurred and I am asking for understanding as such. I feel that it is more that fair for both Capella and myself take responsibility for both of our parts in this and come to a settlement agreement. That is just good business practice. To address their point about me having no contact with my advisor, he was already made well aware through our conversations that I was unsure whether I would be able to make this work and that I was giving it a try. When he reached out to me to discuss my first unit, I indicated that due to my schedule, I was only able to complete homework on Wednesday's and Sunday's if needed which did not leave a lot of time (hence my struggle)Again, I am requesting a settlement in the form of a credit applied to my bill for 75% as this is what I would have been responsible for under the two week drop policy. Thank you very much for your time and consideration in this matterBest Regards, *** ***

Thank you for your attention to the matter
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2016/01/19) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I have uploaded the FERPA release as requested and am available to provide relevant supporting materials
Final Consumer Response /* (3000, 11, 2016/01/23) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
My initial complaint lies in the fact that Dr*** did not fulfill his obligations as an instructor and mislead me on two different occasions
I will call this section Exhibit A
-Dr *** stated that he was getting a committee setup to evaluate my dissertation progress -
Taken from email dated 1/13/
DrCharles *** (Mentor/Chair of Committee)
*Your two committee members will be assigned at a later date Your mentor can request these committee assignments from the School
Taken from email date 2/27/
Dear ***,
Congratulations! Your Research Plan Topic has been approved
Once completed, your mentor will submit the Research Plan to the committee members for their review
4/28/- Dr*** endorses the research plan and issues mentor approval (Milestone 3)
During this time, Dr *** informed me it can take up to weeks to get feedback for MS from the committee However, Dr *** never made a committee to review my MS My adviser Jill was also able to verify that no request for committee was ever madeI got worried after a month had passed and I had no feedbackDr*** took over weeks to reply
6/2/- Dr*** responds
I found his response unsatisfactoryHe had not made a committee to review my workHe also stated that the school was responsible for making the committee, not himSo I asked my academic advisor, Jill Kaspzak, to determine is this was true
Taken from email on July 9,
***,
We could not find an email request from Dr*** for your committee assignment
Since Dr*** did not setup a committee, my progress in the program was halted
Exhibit B
-Dr*** did not follow the Dissertation plan-
Taken from email March,
***
Please review the attached SMR for the 1st section of your RP Of the Criteria for Section 1, DrBottomly found the following:
Taken from email March,
to Charles
Dr ***,
Isn't SMR around Milestone 5?
Should I continue Milestone 3?
The worst part of this is the actual "board" that revised my tuition reimbursement claimed I would not have a SMR review since it is done at Milestone Dr *** clearly sent my Milestone towards SMR, see below attachment
I consider that none of the information I submitted to Capella was used during the tuition reimbursement boardsFurthermore, the university has an opportunity to correct the mistake here and nowI do not want apologies, Dr*** wasted a quarter of my time by not making a committee to review my work and did not follow the dissertation plan outlined by the school
I have provided the SMR response I received from Capella and the entire comments I sent to Jonathan *** back in October 17, when I asked for tuition reimbursement
Final Business Response /* (4000, 13, 2016/01/26) */
January 26,
To whom it may concern:
This letter is in response to Mr*** ***'s complaint from case #*** submitted on 1/19/Mr*** is stating that his PhD mentor made failures that warrant him being reimbursed for a quarter of tuition
Mr*** responded with information that is not congruent with information he submitted previously to Capella, and the information does not match what we have on record as occurring in his dissertation programWe apologize for any undue hardship or stress that this situation may have caused Mr***, but we have reviewed and denied his request for a tuition credit twice and will not be reviewing his request for a tuition credit any furtherThere is no documented evidence of his claim that there were any issues or delays on the part of Capella or any of its staff that led to a delay in the continuation of his dissertationWe encourage him to continuing working with his mentor and the dissertation support team throughout the course of his programPlease feel free to reach out with any additional questions or concerns

I am rejecting this response because: Capella University has lied to the Revdex.com as the technical issues I was having had never been resolvedThe support was not available and there was no one that was really interested in helping work out thew issuesAlso, I did not hand in course work because I could not get in to the Capella website. Thank you, *** ***

I am rejecting this response because:
Please see attached revised letter from my doctorHe wrote the day I first started seeing him for a different condition, not the condition that has disabled meHe has corrected his dates and revised the responseI apologize for the confusionMy word's do not come easy to me any more, I gave him the response to let him see what wording was best suited.Thank you,

I am rejecting this response because:Capella University is trying to cover up the fact they made a mistakeI did disclose the fact I attended another school because I had to send in verification documents of every school I attended before any aid would be awarded to meMy financial aid was flagged and Capella University knows this so they are lying when they state I did not disclose this to them because I didI had to in order to receive aid Also if I was awarded too much aid for spring term that I am not even taking because I’m still in winter term why did I just receive another loan from the DOE but Capella kept the fundsThis school is a rip off and I refuse to sit back and be one of their victims!!

July 25, To whom it may concern: This letter is in response to Ms*** ***’s complaint #***Ms***’s complaint is regarding the balance owed on her account for which she had established a payment plan Although Ms*** is referencing Higher Education laws and provisions, theses are not pertinent to her situation with Capella, or her complaint to the Revdex.comIf Ms*** feels there has been a violation of a Department of Education regulation, we encourage her to reach out directly to the Department of Education Ms*** established a payment plan with the university and continuously neglected to fulfill the agreed upon payment planWe have been more than lenient and accommodating with allowing Ms*** to continue with her programWe have, on several occasions, made exceptions outside our business processes to allow her to continue despite her balance and inability to receive financial aid due to FASAP We apologize for any confusion this situation may have caused Ms***, but she has found herself in the current situation due to not making payments to her account as agreed uponFeel free to reach out with any additional questions or concerns Regards, Joe *** Senior Learner Affairs Associate Academic Affairs Direct Line: 612.977.*** Toll Free: 1.888.CAPELLA (###-###-####) ext*** Fax: ###-###-#### E-mail: Joseph.***@capella.edu Capella University Capella Tower *** *** *** *** *** *** Minneapolis, MN

Final Consumer Response /* (3000, 11, 2015/09/28) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
September 28,
My attempts to contact my mentor during my SMR process was consistent and Dr*** who is no longer with Capella University failed to respond or be availableI attempted several times to reach out and get more specifics about the expected standard and Dr*** was either dealing with her personal health issues or the birth of her grandchildShe did respond towards the end of her stay at CapellaShe suddenly started to be proactive about responding to emails and/or texting which was surprising She appeared to be forced to attend to my needs, she almost sounded as if she was being rushed and just portray as if she suddenly cared about my academic progress
I was advised to request extensions, even though I was not in agreement, the school stated that it was common to do so and that if I wanted to finish my program, such had to be doneIt was advised by Jessica *** (DSW department advisor)I had shared with her that fellow cohorts were experiencing the same delays with Dr*** and Ms*** proceeded to ignore such matter and proceed with me asking for an extensionShe just kept saying, "you need to request an extension in order to continue being active in the program"I was quite dissatisfied, since my mentor was not involved in my progress, but had to continue and so I listened to Capella's adviseThey made the statement that "I requested", no, I did not want to request such extension, since Dr*** should have been effective with her role as a mentor and help me in reaching my next milestoneMy lifelong academic records will demonstrate that I have been a committed and successful studentI have never experienced such a thing in my life as I have with CapellaThis is an absolute injustice, there is no moral value nor ethics involved with this organizationI have connected with several former Capella students and they have been experiencing the same situation, this is extremely scary

October 6,
To whom it may concern:
We apologize for any confusion or distress this situation may have caused Mrs***, and that she does not agree with the decision made by the school to be administratively withdrawnIn researching her situation, student record, and consulting with staff that specialize in PhD dissertation, it has been determined that Mrs*** was afforded every opportunity to be successful in her PhD programThe action of taking administrative withdrawal occurred after extensions had been granted by mentors of the DSW PhD program, and was a result of her lack of academic performanceShe was also afforded the opportunity to appeal her withdrawal, which was handled in a manner consistent with other learners in her same program under the same circumstancesThis appeal was reviewed and the denial upheld by both the faculty review panel, as well as the president's designeePer university policy, there is no additional avenue for appeal beyond the presidential designee
Again; we understand that this situation may have cause distress to Mrs***, but we urge her to continue working with our academic advising team to pursue an alternate degree utilizing the credits she has already attainedPlease feel free to reach out to me with any additional questions or concerns

We are responding to Ms***'s response to her complaint from case #*** submitted to the Revdex.com on 12/1/Ms*** is under the impression that she only has a few weeks left to complete her doctoral program, unfortunately that is not correctHer Milestone is currently under review by the school and there is no guarantee that the school will approve that milestone for her to move onFurthermore, if Ms*** had not been administratively withdrawn and approval was granted, there would be no way to estimate when she would have completed the remaining milestones required from her programWe made every effort to make Ms*** aware that she needed to be completely done with her program by the end of the summer termAgain; her final extension stated she was required to have her entire program completed, not be at a particular milestone at the end of the summer term

I understand that Revdex.com cannot force these companies to come to a satisfactory resolution, but it is clear that Capella University is 1) not willing or wanting to speak to me regarding this and 2) continue to provide information to myself and your companyMr *** has still not responded to my email or phone call attemptsI have emailed and called him directly as he had left that information in his prior responsesThe ENVELOPE that Mr*** states is not associated with Capella, is the envelope they provided me to send my paymentAs you can see, they returned the envelope, unopened, stating the account was closedThey did not state "return to sender", as you would expect someone to do if the envelope was sent to them in errorFor all Mr*** knows, there was a check in that envelope to pay CapellaThey returned my envelope and sent me to collectionsThis is clearly proof that Capella is not willing to discuss this with me in good faith and despite the attempts by Mr*** to state that they would like to speak to me, I am still unable to get a return phone call or email from him or his companyThank you for assistance with this extremely concerning issue

After reading the response from Capella, I am disappointed I contacted the advisor, as well as sent an email I proceeded with dropping the classes within the drop add period After the class was dropped, the tuition was charged and then the financial aid was returned After that the balance was provided and after the account went into collections, the collections company insisted that I settle the amount for less In doing this , I am still unable to receive my transcript I am currently looking at legal options in regards to receiving an official transcript I am looking at including this amount in my bankruptcy I am unable to pay the balance when I was within the drop add period I am not in agreement with the response.
