The homeowner, regarding this complaint, was informed the proper way to fix his issue with his sagging doorWe explained that he would need to "sheer" the entire wall, due to the sagging foundationHe decided he wanted to do it the cheap way, and come up with a solution of his own (to install wedges under the bottom plate of sagging foundation) We explained this will not keep with wall from twisting, and his door will rub again, as it had beforeHe opted for the cheaper optionHis door sagged as he was warned aboutHe also had a chimney cap that needed replacingWe were doing another chimney cap at the same timeWe recommended he completely replace the cap, as we were doing with the other chimneyWe have custom caps made in Edmonds, WA by a fabricatorHe once again opted for the cheaper route (to bring the old cap down, and do the repair, and paint work himself in his garage, and we reinstall it) He was also warned that the cap may leak with the cracked edges, but always chose the cheaper routeThis is a homeowner we will not be working with againHe disregards our professional opinions and chooses the cheaper route
Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because:? The response is complete nonsense and incorrect.? Regarding the door, it was never suggested that what we eventually did would not work.? Travis suggested an approach, but it was not the cause of the problem nor would it provide a solution.? ? The door is not being twisted, and my foundation is not sagging.? The door is rubbing at the top due to bowing of the top door frame member, and this likely due to close clearance of the door as manufactured, and the foam used to fill the gap above the door.? I'm an engineer and while I did take the contractors recommendation seriously: I rejected them after a thorough investigation, as? unnecessary and costly. There was no recommendation of complete cap replacement.? I was never warned of potential leakage using my preferred approach.? It leaks because the caulking job was done poorly.I think they were trying to run up the bill with unnecessary work Sincerely, [redacted]
