Misrepresentation of items sold and services provided. Poor workmanship on installation of items purchased. Owner is unresponsive to issues.I hired this company to provide and install a marble shower and a glass door at my daughter [redacted] home located in Charlotte, North Carolina. In addition, I discussed with an employee, [redacted], that when they came to install the marble walls and measure for the shower door, we wanted them to measure and quote a marble counter top in the same bathroom. When the shower walls were installed the installer measured for the shower doors as well as the counter top. He advised [redacted] that the cabinet that sits on top of the counter would need to be braced in order to install the new top. She hired a contractor and had the cabinet braced in preparation for the installation.[redacted] also spoke with [redacted], one of the owners, and discussed with him that the old counter top would need to be removed and the new counter top installed by the company. However, when the same technician who took the measurements arrived at her home on April 15, 2016 to install the door and counter top, he advised her that he would not remove the old counter top or install the new counter. He advised her that due to the cabinet that sits on top of the counter and the thickness of the marble he was afraid that the top would break on installation. The cabinet had been braced per his instructions. He never once mentioned that he could not remove the old top or install the new top when he took the measurements and we were provided the quote. Had we been told that the counter top could not be used on the cabinet it was being ordered for we clearly would not have ordered it. My daughter refused the top under these conditions and it left her property with the installer. When I discussed this issue with [redacted] she advised me that they never install counter tops where there is a cabinet on top of the counter. She said she would talk to her employee and get back with me. I never heard from her again.In addition, we had an independent installer come out to the house and he advised that the shower door was not properly installed. It does not sit even or level. One side of the door measures 1.25 inches from the edge of the marble, the other side measures approximately 2.25 inches from the edge of the marble. The measurements are off on the inside as well as the outside of the door. He pointed out that the bottom of the door does not fully close due to the fact it was not properly installed. I traveled to Charlotte and saw for myself the poor job that was done by this company on the entire project. Although the marble shower itself was acceptable, when their employee installed the shower door he chipped the shower walls. In addition, the door has scratches in it. I sent a letter and pictures to [redacted], via FedEx on May 17, 2016, regarding all of the above but have received no response.Desired SettlementAt this point in time, I expect reimbursement for the entire project. We have to replace the shower door and the walls that have been damaged by improper installation of the door. It is unlikely we will be able to match the color so the entire shower will have to be taken out and we will be starting over from the beginning. The counter top that was paid for but unusable and returned. The misrepresentation of items sold to us and the poor workmanship are unacceptable. The labor to remove the shower should also be included in the reimbursement.
