Cappadona's Funeral Home

In 2013, Cappadona funeral home handled the funeral arrangements for my mother. The issue we encountered was their complete lack of professionalism. Calls to the funeral home were not returned timely and more often never returned. We started by trying to schedule the service, they could not tell us when the cremains would be ready (My mother was to be cremated.) We then contacted them to discuss this and was referred to [redacted]. He was pleasant enough on the first call, but he did not live up to his promises. On subsequent calls he became belligerent and insensitive. When we attempted to contact the owner, the staff refused to take a message for them. FINALLY, we were connected to an office secretary, [redacted] who seemed to be pleasant and listen to our planning needs. Somehow, and I am not sure how, the office secretary called to let us know they would run an extra shift to complete the cremation to accommodate our timing for the service. Without a definite time and date we were not able to tell out of town guests when to plan to be here. We also needed to coordinate with the cemetery as they needed 24 hour notice to open the grave. My husband and brother-in-law were responsible for picking up the cremains from the funeral home. [redacted] would have them. After he learned who they were, he was very brief with no effort or attempt to apologize for putting me or my sister through such stress at a time when we needed understanding and sympathy.

In addition to the above, at no time did Cappadona offer to assist with cemetery arrangements, notifying social security, newspaper notifications, and assisting with life insurance claims. All these things we would have thought would be a part of a funeral home’s service to its customers.

Bottom line – buyer beware when making funeral arrangements. Cappadona lacks the caring, understanding, compassion and professionalism that is needed especially in a time of crisis and dealing with a loved one who has just died. Because of this, I would never recommend them under any circumstances and advise everyone to continue their search elsewhere.

This type of business should be extremely customer-service oriented.

My hope is that this review will allow someone who is checking references on Cappadona, avoids the undue stress caused by Cappadona in regards to their lack of concern, respect, caring, understanding, compassion and professionalism, and have a different company arrange their loved one’s funeral.
