Captain Contracting

Review: [redacted] of Captain Contracting was hired by us to redo our basement in June 2013. We signed a contract for $12,000 which stated all the work that was to be done. It was supposed to be a 3 week - 1 month job. Here it is almost 3 months later and my basement is not finished. He came to us in August and said he needed another $6500 to complete the job. When we refused to give it to him he refused to finish the work. Part of the contract said he was to rip out and replace the basement steps. He ripped them out and never replaced them. First he said he had no one to do the work. My husband said he would get someone to install the steps and [redacted] can pay them. First he agreed to it and then when my husband called him, he said "Why do you need steps?" Part of the contract was for him to replace the basement closet doors and install a back door for us. None of those items were done. Also he was supposed to do electrical work as part of the contract. We were not satisfied with the electrician he provided and got our own electrician which cost us an additional $1800. We did not ask him for that money back as he waterproofed the side of our house which was not part of the contract. Not only didn't he honor his contract but wanted additional money and my basement still is not done. In good faith we paid him the $12,000 before the work was completed and that is when he asked for the additional $6500 and then refused to finish the job.Desired Settlement: I would like every item that was in the contract completed at no additional expense to us. If he would have quoted us a price of $18500.00 from the beginning, I would have never given him the job.

In reference to complaint ID [redacted] Captain Contracting has resolved the issue. Instead of completing the job, refunded me money so that job can be completed by someone else. This is satisfactory to me. He replied to my compliant in a timely manner and I would like to withdraw my compliant against the company.

Review: I had cambridge pavers in front of my house put in 3 weeks ago after they were installed within a week they started to turn white I called contractor he told me he would take care of it ,without telling me he was coming over he put a sealant over brand new pavers,when I came home it was raining I pulled my car in driveway when I got out of car my shoes were sticking to pavers,I called Ali the contractor asked him what did he do he told me he put sealant on also told me I should be happy now ok I'm sorry ma'am his words on my text he also told me give him a few days this was 9/**/on 9/** again without calling me came back put another sealant on when I came home from school I saw my house with caution tape all over I called him I said HOW an I OR my tentants going to get into the house he told me through my house there is no access from my house.He also told me not to walk or pull my car in MY pavers are discolored chipped dirty very shinny and much more. He was a BAD contractor.I've tried calling he is not answering I sent him nice text still answer Cambridge people came to my house territory manager told me HE SHOULD HAVE NEVER PUT A SEALANT ON BRAND NEW PAVERS. MY FRONT LOOKS LIKE THIS WORK WAS DONE 25YEARS AGO. Please help me. ThanksDesired Settlement: I would like my money back to have another contractor do right job starting with the cement Ali had but under the pavers to new pavers the Cambridge man told me even the cement that contractor did was wrong he was to put holes unto cement so when it rains pavers would not come up total job between 10 to 12 thousand dollars.again Please help me Thanks
