I had a starter replaced in my 1970 *** by this company while on a trip to the NW US. Within the next 3 weeks and about 3500 miles it failed and I had to limp into *** to get it replaced. The failed starter had a broken spring in the Bendix and luckily it did not damage my flywheel ring gear.

I contacted the company and talked with "***" who said to ship the failed starter back and he would then refund its cost ($85). It was shipped back by UPS with signature required. It was received and signed for by "***" but multiple messages and phone calls to *** could not result in any refund. They simply ignored me.

In the real world I could also ask for a refund of the original installation costs or the replacement labor costs. But, I simply want a refund of the $85 price of the faulty starter.

I do not see a case number or any reference on the letter you sent us. This is regarding *** and Car Craft Inc. in ***, CA. We will contact the customer and clear this up today. We will be issuing a refund for $85.00 If you have any more questions you can call us.

My husband and I took the motor to be rebuilt. After a month it was finally ready. *** brought it to us dirty and rusty. I addressed that and he just cleaned it. *** told us to bring the car in for the “first fire’. I had it towed in. *** told me there’s no way that car could be driven unless he did some work on it. He quoted me not to go over $500. After three weeks he charged my husband $601. Every time I’d call he had no idea who I was and at a time he even yelled at me for not picking the car up. Then he said “sorry I got another car confused”. When my husband picked up the car it wouldn’t even start. When he finally got it to start it kept turning off. Every worker that would walk by would tell my husband they didn’t work on the car. *** NEVER offered to help. When my husband started to work on the car he had to adjust everything and noticed two parts had been changed for lower quality ones that were not invoiced. The tire was flat, the ignition switch was stuck and the break/signal lights were not working. On 1/14/2019 my husband and I came in the shop to talk to *** about these parts that had been switched. He again couldn’t remember us. He told me how are we complaining about something that happened last month. I told him we picked the car up last week. He then said there’s a lot of people with our same last name. I doubt it. We showed him the parts that were switched and he then told us he knew well they hadn’t been switched. I told him how can you know what your mechanics do back there while you’re here up front. He got silly saying ‘oh yeah I never go back there’. I told him maybe he wasn’t aware of what was going on back there. He again said no way that could’ve happened. I then told him it’s not fair for him to try to take advantage of my husband just because he doesn’t speak English. *** got angry and told me not to throw the “race” card at him, he was done and bye! I told him I’d see him in court and left.
