RE: Case #XXXXXX
Greetings;
Client originally brought the vehicle to our shop for diagnostics on Monday, June 10, with complaints of shift issuesWe preformed a diagnostic
with a pan drop at that time and based on the issues and metal content in the pan a rebuild was recommended and possible electronic issues with the computerClient declined any further services beyond the pan drop at that time
On Tuesday, February 25, client brought the vehicle back and requested that the transmission be rebuilt based on the shift quality and the transmission had developed a noiseAfter this service we did an extensive electrical diagnostic at no charge to the clientMrMougtrey was informed at that time that the vehicle would need a computer to finalize repairsClient declined this service and requested that the cowling covers be placed in the trunk of the vehicle and had stated that he would do those repairs and finalization himself
On 03/24/the vehicle was brought to our shop with complaints of shift quality and a transmission fluid leakAt that time we noticed that the rear inspection plug had been removed, we assumed that it had been removed by either the client or while at another shop, reason unknownWe verified fluid level and test drove the vehicle at which time the shift points where offThere was damage to the exhaust pipe when it came to our shop on 03/24/though we do not know when this damaged happened or how it may have happened
The computer was scanned and found to have several and various codesThe computer was inspected and found to have not been changed and the cowling covers had not been installedThe computer had water damageClient was notified that damage to the transmission from the computer would not be covered under our warranty and that the unit may need to be removed and inspected
In an effort to save costs and take care of our client we reset the computer and preformed an adaptive reset on the transmission shift pointsWe verified the transmission fluid level and cleaned connection and cables as well as charged the batteryWe then test drove the vehicle and again suggested a computer replacement
MrMougtrey became belligerent and indicative, in later conversation with his wife she requested that we contact her directlyShe was explained the nature of the issues with the vehicle at which time she paid the towing bill and asked us to make the vehicle ready for them to pick upWe double checked transmission fluid level, computer codes and battery health to insure she could drive the vehicle back home
At that time and date the client was again notified that the vehicle needed a computer and that possible damage to the transmission from operating it in the present condition could cause further damageWe also informed her that the cowling covers would need to be installed to keep water from causing further damage to the electrical system
On Friday, May 6, MrMougtrey call our office cursing, being rude and making threatsAt no time did he ask for a refund, further information about repairs nor did he suggest any amicable resolution to the issue
At this time, we are more then willing to insure our transmission rebuild works as intended however, any damaged cause to the transmission due to defective electrical conditions and or any damage caused by neglect, abuse or tampering will not be covered by our warranty
If you need any more information on this issue please contact us at your earliest convenience so that this issue can be resolved in the best manner as quickly as possibleOur contact information is on the header of this document

This vehicle came to us during a very busy time unscheduled however we where able to accommodate Mr***'s
request to install his used transmissionAs an unscheduled repair, there was no set time frame for completion nor any promise that the vehicle would be stored inside the building
To complicate matters, this vehicle is in very bad mechanical condition and has many salvaged components to include the engine and appeared to have been worked on previously in a manner that made it more then complicated to repair in time framesThere where no extra fees charged on this repair even though there was at least hours of additional work preformed to get the vehicle in drivable conditionLikewise, the exterior of this vehicle is beat from years of misuse and possible accident damage that has never been corrected by the clientThe hood has no latch, no supports to hold the hood up, battery is weak, wheel hubs are damaged, etc
At this time, we do not offer any rebates on the repairsThe fees we did charge where well below book value resulting in a savings to Mr***

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 11, 2016/08/05) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
*** is simply trying to minimize the negligence displayed by his companyI really did have a visit to his shop scheduled as I stated in the complaintI spoke with him on the phone a week earlier to discuss my options, and when I secured the used transmission I called again to let them know it would be delivered there on TuesdayMy car doesn't have the original motor in it nowAbout a month prior to this service request, I had an engine installed by a local shopMy original engine had nearly 200,miles on it and the newer motor only has 83,It is mechanically sound with no issuesAS for the exterior of my car, it had a dent in the driver's side rear quarter panel when I bought it and I never got around to getting it fixedThe front of my car sustained some damage in a wreck, but I did have both front fenders replaced with brand new onesOnly my hood has some creases and the front plastic is slightly bent with some paint peeled offI always keep my exterior and interior cleanAs I stated in the report, the hood brackets were removed while it was at Springfield TransmissionsMy car was inspected last year and at that time I had one wheel hub replacedI don't see how one is bad nowWe can't expect that all customers are going to bring in 100% mechanically sound and immaculate vehicles for him to work onSpringfield Transmissions specializes in transmission removal and installationFrom what I have learned online in videos and articles, this is not a complicated jobI would have attempted it myself, but I lack experience and all the specialty toolsI am completely dissatisfied with Springfield Transmissions and I will not take my vehicle to them again
