Car Protection Pro Reviews (1)

Review: Car Protection Pros (CPP), [redacted] sells substandard/damaged product using brand names such as 3M in their ads. CPP does not stand behind the products they sell. We bought a shield/clear bra for our car for $309 USD on eBay. The shield was defective from manufacture. CPP does not consider "factory damage" as a valid reason for returns. CPP's eBay rules say: there are no refunds, no returns except for inaccurate item description, all sales are final, you have to ask permission if you need to mail the product back, you have to prove that you took the damaged product to a 3M certified installation shop, and you have seven days to do all that. If the product was never installed, and arrived damaged from the factory, none of CPP's arbitrary rules apply. CPP can't avoid 3M's five year warranty, ignore customers, take their money, and leave them holding the bag with damaged goods. Arguably, Ebay rules may be legal but CPP's business practices are not ethical. The defective product was examined by a certified 3M shop, found to be defective from the factory, not installed, and shipped back in accordance with 3M's warranty (without CPP's permission). CPP kept the money, the defective product, and won't respond to our communication.Desired Settlement: The defective shield was shipped back, insured with tracking number. In my letter c/o[redacted] Car Protection Pros, I asked for a refund to my credit card or a genuine, undamaged, 3M VentureShield. Payment to CPP was processed through PayPal in the amount of $309 USD

Response:We are very concerned about serving our customers and always striving for the best customer service when they purchased a paint protection film kit from us. [redacted] purchased a paint protection film kit from our eBay store on April 8th, 2015 and sent it back to us 6 months after the original purchased date. He shipped the kit back to us on September 8th, 2015 without any prior communication with us. When we received the kit back we found that the paint protection film was not defective but had been damaged during shipping. We communicated this with the [redacted] and stated that we would need his assistance to file an insurance claim with the insurance company Shipsurance. We filed a claim, but Shipsurance denied our claim because the insurance policy had expired because too much time had passed from the date of delivery of the kit and filing of the claim (15 days). Shipsurance states that the buyer must notify the seller of the damage within 15 days of receiving the item and the seller must file the claim with Shipsurance within the first 15 days of delivery to the buyer. Our eBay listing stated that we will replace all defective items, the buyer is to report the defect and/or damage to us within 7 (seven) days of receiving the kit, the buyer should contact us prior to shipping the item back to us, and we do not offer any warranties ([redacted]). Even though we have a 7 day requirement for reporting defective/damaged items we would have worked with [redacted] to replace the damaged item up until the 15 day Shipsurance cutoff date. If [redacted] would have contacted us within the first 15 days we would have instructed him to not ship the damaged kit back to us. We would have sent him a replacement kit once we filed an insurance claim. We do not require the buyers to take their paint protection kit to a 3M certified installer within 7 (seven) days after delivery. We do recommend that if a buyer is going to have the kit installed by a professional that they seek the help of a 3M certified installer so they will have benefit of an installer that has been trained by 3M corporation on the proper procedures to install the kit and that installer at their discretion can issue the buyer a 5 year warranty* backed by 3M corporation. *Please note that 3M’s warranty for paint protection film is only valid when the 3M Paint Protection film is installed on the vehicle by a 3M Certified Installer ([redacted] for 3M's Warranty terms) and would not be applicable to any damage to the product which occurred during shipping. Sincerely,
