 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
Regards,
[redacted]
I spoke with the owner 45 minutes prior to them closing. We did discuss the payment plans they had available. When it came to performing the work I told them notbing needed to be done tknight and if I decided to get the work done I wouldn't be able to make the payment until the coming Friday. I was then told by the owner that they bad only ordered parts and we're just waiting for them to come in. This was at 5:45pm. I called the next morning at 8:13AM (13 minutes after they had opened) telling them NOT TO WORK ON THE CAR and that I will be coming to tow it later that day. Why would I bother to call to give such instructions if (according to the owner) I was told the car was already being worked on the night before. He said my father gave him consent to repair the car. I am the ONLY OWNER of this vehicle. No other name on the title/registration but my own. No one should be able to give consent to perform repairs on someone else's property, regardless of the relationship. I was NEVER given a call stating my father (who lives all the way in NJ) gave consent. I had to call them. This call was when we spoke about them only ordering parts

Customer ([redacted]) brought the vehicle, a 2004 [redacted] 2.0L, to the shop on a tow truck, on 10/12/2015 - no start, empty fuel tank, and dead battery condition. She said the vehicle would not start, and that it has already been diagnosed at a [redacted]...

dealer, and among many other things the dealer her told were faulty on the vehicle was the Alternator. She requested that we replace the Alternator only, as the dealer said it was the reason the vehicle would not start, and she will have the other concerns repaired as she's able to.
She was giving a replacement estimate for the Alternator, which she approved. After the installation of the Alternator, fuel added, and battery recharged, the vehicle would not start and the check engine light stayed on. [redacted] was informed of the development in the repair process, and she approved the time to diagnose no start condition, and the check engine light that was on.
The diagnosis was carried out with [redacted] code set in the Engine Computer Memory, and further system testing reveals a faulty Engine RPM Sensor. [redacted] was again called to be informed of the diagnosis and the cost of repair, which she approved. The repair was carried out, the vehicle started, but the engine was running rough which got a little better after road test, and the customer was informed with a recommendation to perform an engine tune up - she declined. The repair was completed same day, however, [redacted] said she wouldn't be able to pick up the vehicle till 4 days later which was the following Friday because of her job schedule. The vehicle was picked up on Friday 10/16/2015.
[redacted] called the shop on the morning of 10/19/2015 that the check engine light came on, but wouldn't be able to return the vehicle to the shop that day as she was on her way to work, but would stopped by the next day to have it checked out; after she was told to bring it in for us to recheck it. We met the vehicle on our lot the next day and the customer brought the key in the morning 10/20/2015.
The check engine light concern was rechecked and [redacted] was in the engine computer memory, and further testing reveals a faulty Mass Air Flow Sensor. An estimated cost of repair was called in to the customer, and at this time, she informed us that the vehicle would also not respond when she stepped on the accelerator, which she asked us to check out.
Several attempts was made without been able to duplicate the throttle response concern, so we hooked up multiple diagnostic and testing tools to the vehicle and periodically drive it. On one of the periodic test drives the next day 10/20/2015, the concern occurred and the faulty system and actual part was identified to be the Fuel Pump. We prepared an estimate and the customer was informed of the cost of repair, at which time she said she would call us back. About 10 minutes later, a man , [redacted], with New Jersey area code phone number, identified himself as the customer's father called, but I was busy at the time. I called the father back, and he said he also repair cars and wanted to know the concern with the vehicle as the daughter did not understand what I explained to her. I went over the concern, what we found as the problem, and the cost of repairs. He then said:
1. That they want the repair done but the daughter only have a portion of the money with her ($250.00) and he's sending the balance to her the following Friday, but she needed the vehicle to move around right away. He then ask if we can complete the repair with the initial $250.00 paid to us, return the vehicle to the daughter, and balance be paid the following Friday, which after several other discussions, I agreed and he asked us to proceed with the repair.
2. He requested that the vehicle be completed the same day as this was about 5pm (shop closes at 6pm) as he's concern for how the daughter will move around, which we promised that, if we can get all the parts on time, we will complete it.
We immediately ordered the necessary parts, called part vendors for favor to deliver the parts at that time, which they agreed. About 5 minutes afterwards, [redacted] also called, and the discussion with her father and the approval was relayed to her, and all that happened afterwards - the parts on the way, and the attempt to complete the vehicle so she could pick it up same evening. She then mentioned that she has an alternate means of moving around that the father did not know about and that we didn't have to rush the job, and she could pick up next day, which I told her it wasn't a rush for us. She also expressed concern about not having the completed funds, which I repeated her father's promise to us, and also mentioned to her that we can finance auto repair if she's interested. She asked for the breakdown of the payments, and which was giving to her. She agreed to the repair and the vehicle was completed same day.
Next day 10/21/2015, [redacted] called in the morning to let us know she will be picking up the vehicle that day, which the associate that received the call said ok. She called again in the afternoon to say that a tow truck will be coming to pick up the vehicle, for which I called her back to ask why the tow truck as the repair was completed the day before as mentioned to her. She asked how we could finish the job within an hour to our closing time, and I told her that the technicians will usually wait to complete a repair once approved, if not too extensive and all parts available; and to not clog the next the day schedule with uncompleted previous day job, if we can avoid it.
[redacted] was informed every step of the repairs, an no repair was done on her vehicle without her awareness and authorization. Every job done on her vehicle was approved by her.
