Review: Purchased a 2002 [redacted] from Car Stop on 9/17/14 for $4,500. Car was sold AS IS but Car Stop performed some engine work (timing chain, gasket and water pump) before the car was sold. We picked the car up drove it home and noticed the next day that the car was dripping oil all over the street. Had my mechanic look it over and was told that the leak was coming from the top of the engine (where the timing chain and gasket are located) Called Car Stop on Monday 9/22/14 and spoke to Rich and he said no problem bring the car back and they will take a look at it and even said they would give me a loaner car. Today 9/24 I called to set up a time to bring the car in tomorrow and was tranfered to the owner Uri who told me that I should have the car fixed locally and that they would not look or fix the vehicle since it was sold AS IS. I expressed that since they performed the engine work in order to sell the vehicle they should at least fix the job that they performed. Again Uri said sorry the car is sold AS IS.Desired Settlement: Fix the oil leak.

September 30, 2014Customer Kevin J. Shanley purchased the 2002 [redacted] on 09/17/2014. The car was sold “AS IS" and the customer had signed the “Buyer's Guide” form. The customer was explained that he is buying a used car, and possible problems that can occur with the used car were listed in the Buyer's Guide. The customer agreed and signed the “Buyers Guide”. We asked the customer to inspect the car, test drive it to make sure he likes it and there is no issues with the car. Before the sale some mechanical work was performed on the vehicle, such as timing chain, head gasket, water pump. We drove the car, checked everything, there was no oil leaks, no water leak, everything was working properly. We had the car for sale for about 2 weeks and we have not seen any problems with it. We provided the customer with the list of the parts and services that we performed on the car, but this does not mean that the car is never going to have a problems. We do not provide the warranty for the parts and for the work that was done and for the whole car. When customer called on the 9/22/14 Rich answered the phone and promised him to take a look at the car and provide him with the loaner car, that’s normal procedure when people want to do a repair work in our shop. But we need to get paid for the repair. Rich only works here and does not make decisions. When Yuri answered the phone he tried to explain to the customer that the customer needs to pay for the repair and the car was sold AS IS with NO warranty. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call us.Regards, Natalya B
