I spoke with *** on or about the 21st of December 2019 when he called me to let me know he had received my vehicle and that it should take no more than 4 days to repair, possibly 1 or 2 days more because of the holidays and the vehicle would be detailed. On 12/31/2019, I visited the shop only to find out it needed a water pump and the timing needed to be done, and he insisted on being paid that day. *** is the General Manager, he informed me that I would have to pay an additional $800.00 to complete the vehicle timing.
After about a month of having to listen to *** excuses about not having a tool to complete the timing, he then said it would need a turbo replacement, which would cost about $1400 more to completely fix my vehicle. However, he had not fixed the timing providing various excuses as to why he didn't have tools to complete it. I informed him to first complete the timing on the vehicle and then we can discuss the turbo issue he diagnosed.
*** continued to hold my vehicle hostage and would continuously repeat that the vehicle would be completed this afternoon, to wait for his call. But he would not call and this became his excuse. *** eventually said my vehicle was ready, but insisted on the turbo replacement. I went to pick up my vehicle, the sound coming from the engine was loud and *** told me that it was normal since he had reset the engine codes. The vehicle did not drive more than a few hundred feet before the bottom panel fell off and oil seemed to be leaking from everywhere. It was not until I came back with a tow truck that I realized the vehicle seemed to have been vandalized, with bolts missing and other oddities. The dealership where it was towed to refused to work on the vehicle, and as per my conversation with the dealership mechanic and foreman. A new engine or have the engine rebuilt from scratch at another location, and the engine codes suggested that the Timing incorrect.
Car Talk got about $3600 from me, what a nightmare.

Customer called CarTalk and requested that the vehicle needed a head gasket. Due to CarTalk not diagnosing the vehicle we told the customer we will not be responsible or liable if this repair will not fix the vehicle condition. He chose not to have us diagnose the vehicle. In fact the customer wife told us that his father and brother told him it needed a head gasket. We installed the cylinder head gasket and sent the head to a machine shop for resurfacing and cleaning with new valve steams installed. Per the manufacture, Chevrolet Motor Company, this vehicle has a certain tool to ensure the vehicle timing is installed correctly. It took longer because we had to order this tool. We advised the customer of this. He was OK with this. (Also the customer is very hard to get a hold of and most communication was with his wife). This tool is there so a mistake can not be made. The tools job is to lock down the crank shaft and camshaft so they do not rotate while the timing chain is off the vehicle. Once the vehicle started we had a camshaft actuator code. Contacted the customer and suggested this unit be replaced. He approved this repair as well. Once the vehicle started up a lot of smoke came out the tail pipe. (common sign of bad head gasket, possibly why family thought this car needed one) As a customer service act we diagnosed this issue and found that the vehicle oil is leaking into the fresh air hose from the turbocharger. When we removed the intake hose oil came out. This hose should never have oil in them, it is used for fresh air. At this time we recommended the customer to replace the turbo charger then retesting. Customer declined this repair. We also told the customer not to take the vehicle home due to the running condition. He insisted on taking it. He did have to come back per the skid plate which we repaired and ensure it would stay on. Again we suggested the customer not to take the vehicle until the turbo was replaced. Customer again insisted to take the vehicle. This time the customer choose to tow the vehicle and said he would be back in a couple weeks. Customer paid all amount but never complained about the price or the repair at the time of pick up. Customer then wrote us a negative review. We have tried to call the customer multiple times but he or his wife never picks up the phone. How can we make it right if he never answers the phone. CarTalk is ready to help in any way we can . However, the other party is not communicating.

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.

[Provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.]

Regards,

Calling only after a complaint to the Revdex.com doesn’t justify trying to say that you tried to work something out. You Are very comfortable in fabricating a story with the Revdex.com. I am not a mechanic you diagnosed the vehicle held my vehicle hostage and Returned it in an unsatisfactory way. You try to belittle me by insinuating that because you are a family man and post everything online you are honest. When in fact you should have records of all these calls you claim to have made when trying to reach me as well as video, since you have cameras in multiple locations at your business. I wonder how comfortable you would feel if you had to prove your honesty, instead of fabricating additional lies in front of the Revdex.com. I remember you telling me that the mechanic quit, The one who was originally working on the vehicle and therefore there were some missing parts. I called in one Saturday and the mechanic answered and he did not appear to know what he was doing since he took the engine apart seven times and still could not fix it. The car was and is still leaking oil from this apparent incompetence. You have lied to me and are not excepting responsibility for your actions. And you must think I am ignorant to insinuate that I am a mechanic telling you how to do your job, When you are supposed to be the professional
