I have never been so disappointed with a company in my entire life until I did business with Thrifty Rental. I attempted to use Thrifty for my Thanksgiving break in Denver, CO and things fell apart very quickly. I prepaid $82 when I booked my rental car. Upon arrival at the Thrifty in Denver, I was told I would have to do a credit check since I was using my debit card. I had previously called the week before, and the Thrifty representative made no mention of the credit check I was subject to. After the credit check denied me, it was then that I realized that I would be stranded 40 minutes away from my actual destination. The first Thrifty representative was not helpful at all, and did little to nothing to help offer up any solutions. At that point, I contacted Car Trawlers, and stayed on the phone with them for more than 30 minutes. During this time, I was told that I would not receive a refund, and when I mentioned the Thrifty representative did not mention the credit check before hand, I was told by a supervisor that I didn't have any proof of that. (I was practically called a liar.) At some point during my frustration, the supervisor thought it would be appropriate to laugh at the situation. When I called Thrifty, they weren't much help either. They kept referring me to Car Trawlers, even after I explained their unwillingness to help. I will never do business with Thrifty again. The Thrifty representatives ensured me that I would receive a full refund since I never received a car, but unfortunately that did not turn out to be true. I thought I was so lucky to find a company with low prices, but after this experience, it just wasn't worth it. Whether Car Trawler is a second or third party, I did business first hand with Thrifty, and the service I experienced was unacceptable. My contract with Thrifty stated: "We guarantee that you are going to get a 2015/16-registered car at the desk." That never happened.
