On 2/25/i purchased a car from car and van world.the vehicle had a couple issues that the dealer said the would adressThe first was a check engine light that was on,yhe first time they tried to fix that problem was vasileen on the gas capThen after replacing many emissions parts, the transmission had a problem and after tries they fixed the transmission problemThan the oil pump stopped working and severely damaged the engineI had the vehicle towed to the car dealers shop on 5/7/Three days later I get a call confirming that the engine was to damaged to repair.on 5/14/i went to the dealer and he handed me a check for $This is what he gave me for the $1,down payment and the monthly payments I made at $a month for my vehicle to sit in their shopThis sounds a little ridiculousThey should have given back all money I gave them due to the catastrophic breakdowns the vehicle had

Car & Van World Response 5/26/The customer purchased a vehicle from us on 2/25/with a 30-day warranty The vehicle was towed in to our service center in early May Our service center diagnosed the problem as the oil pump which in
turn caused an engine problem Even though the customer was well out of warranty, we offered to replace the engine at no cost to him even though we were under no obligation At this point the customer told us that he didn't want the vehicle anymore Please understand that at this point the customer still had a balance with us of over $that the customer signed a contract for Also up to this point the customer was due contractually obligated payments of $totaling $ Only $of this was paid leaving his account behind $ At the time of purchase, the customer put $down, $went towards his tax and tags leaving only $towards the vehicle (the vehicle was listed for $down) Only as a show of good faith did we offer the customer $back and release him from his standing balance of over $($of which was past due) The customer was not and is not entitle to any more money back past the goodwill gesture we gave him.Sincerely,

Car & Van World Response     5/26/16The customer purchased a vehicle from us on 2/25/16 with a 30-day warranty.  The vehicle was towed in to our service center in early May.  Our service center diagnosed the problem as the oil pump which in turn caused an engine problem....

 Even though the customer was well out of warranty, we offered to replace the engine at no cost to him even though we were under no obligation.  At this point the customer told us that he didn't want the vehicle anymore.  Please understand that at this point the customer still had a balance with us of over $7000 that the customer signed a contract for.  Also up to this point the customer was due 5 contractually obligated payments of $200 totaling $1000.  Only $600 of this was paid leaving his account behind $400.  At the time of purchase, the customer put $1300 down, $839 went towards his tax and tags leaving only $461 towards the vehicle (the vehicle was listed for $2000 down).  Only as a show of good faith did we offer the customer $595 back and release him from his standing balance of over $7000 ($400 of which was past due).  The customer was not and is not entitle to any more money back past the goodwill gesture we gave him.Sincerely,Daniel N[redacted]Manager, Car & Van World
