I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below
There was NO test drive when I brought the car back to them on 6/30/I did NOT state it was a new noise, I stated it was same noise only louder at that pointThe mechanic who had been working on m car came out asked me to start the car, I did he listened and said he heard the noise himself, and brought it into the shop bay immediatelyNo test drive at any pointHe then brought me back to listen to the car, and had another man in the car revving the motor, while revving my motor there was a LOUD bangI was then walked back to the front of the shop and told about breaks, I declined them as my husband was going to be doing them himself When I left the shop I didnt make it far when I had to pull over and have it towed to another shopThe shop found that the tooth idler pulley had gone, and that it would have been impossible to have missed because it's same area other pulley was inThey made original problem worse and sent me on my way which caused my motor to become badly damagedIt drove just fine when I pulled in and didnt when I left, I think they should have to replace my motor since they made original problem worse which caused my end problem of needing a different motorIf they had done what they were supposed to in finding the problem, and fixed it I would not be in this situationInstead they made it worse and motor needs replacing

RE: ID # ***
Dear Ms***
Thank you for giving us another opportunity to respond
We
did not do anything that would have caused her engine, with 265,miles, to
failTherefore we do not feel we are responsible for replacing her engine
Our
ASE certified technician heard a noise and repaired the part that was causing
the noiseWhen Mrs*** left our store the noise was gone
Mrs
*** returned with a different noiseWe revved the motor to diagnose the
problem but that is not what caused the internal noise and her engine to fail
Once
again, we did not cause the engine, with 265,miles, to fail and therefore we
should not be held responsible for the replacement cost
If
you have any further questions, please contact us and know that we will respond
immediately

I need to update my claim. When I got home and looked at all my receipts some of the information was incorrect. The date was actually 3/19 and I paid $1034.41. They claimed that I need to replace secondary air pump, which cost $499.99, labor air pump totaling $196, coolant resivoir for $179...

labor coolant for $49,and a shop fee of $55. The light came back on so I took it back on 3/20 and this time they said the vacuum line was broken, and they fixed that for free. Then on 3/21 the light back on now this time they said its as an 02 sensor which costed me $134.98 and another shop fee of $8. Once again the light came back on and on 3/30 I took my car back and this time they charged me $46.13 for diagnostic testing, another shop fee of $45.45, then they said I need to replace LF02 sensor for $95.68 and then a RF sensor for $95.68 and $73.79 in labor. So now they have replaced all of these items and the check engine light is still coming on. They essentially fixed nothing and had me pay to replace stuff that never needed replacing. The total for the claim should be $1478.70 and tax of $81.33 totaling $1560.03.Sorry for the inaccurate information in the initial claim. If you need to speak with me directly my number is [redacted]

Dear Ms. [redacted]

Thank you for notifying us of this complaint and for giving
us an opportunity to respond....

On 6/27/2014, Ms. [redacted] brought in her 1999 Subaru Legacy,
with 265,425 miles, in for a noise coming from the engine. She stated that her
car had stalled on her recently and that the check engine light had been on for
awhile. We had our ASE Certified technician inspect the vehicle and he diagnosed
a noise coming from the a/c tensioner idler pulley. We also diagnosed that the
check engine light was related to an EGR valve/transducer issue.
She authorized us to repair the a/c tensioner idler pulley
and to order the EGR valve/transducer. We also recommended replacement of the
front brakes which she declined.
We installed the a/c tensioner idler pulley and the noise
that was there upon entering our shop was gone. She paid her invoice and drove
away.
On 6/30/2014, Ms. [redacted] returned to our shop and stated
that there was a new noise coming from the same area of the engine. We went
with a test drive with her to hear the noise. We then inspected the vehicle and
determined that the new noise was a knocking noise coming from the lower part
of the motor and not near the a/c tensioner idler pulley that we installed
previously.
We
informed her that the noise was an internal noise of the motor indicating that
the motor was failing. Ms. [redacted] stated that she had to get to work and she
drove away with her car.
Ms. [redacted] then notified us that she
was having an issue with her car and that she was having it towed. She towed it
to another shop. They inspected her vehicle and informed that her motor was
failing and needed to be rebuilt or replaced.
We originally offered to refund her
money as a good will gesture because the engine failed so soon after we
replaced the pulley but we do not feel that we are responsible for replacing
her motor because we did not cause the motor to fail. The motor has 265,425
miles on it and we had notified her and documented it on her invoice that there
was an issue with it.
If
you have any further questions, please contact us and know that we will respond
immediately

The general manager called me directly and was very helpful. He instructed me to bring my car into the store and they would fix it. I brought my car in on Saturday and so far so good. They instructed me though to wait until Friday to see if the light remains off and to call them then. The issue was that they did not connect the wires properly. Hello, I want to add in there that they fixed the car and to make up for the extra costs that I had to paid for they are now fixing more stuff on for free. They did an excellent job in fixing this issue for me and I will continue to take my car to them for any other issues. Thanks, [redacted]

When we received notification regarding the complaint, we immediately tried contacting Mr. [redacted] to work on resolving his issue. We were finally able to contact him on Thursday April 30, 2015. He agreed to bring his vehicle in for us to inspect for him on Friday May 1, 2015 at 9:00 am. Mr. [redacted] called us on Friday morning, May 1, 2015 and stated that he would not be able to be in at 9:00 am but will be coming in later in the afternoon instead. We will do our best to resolve Mr. [redacted] issue, once we have had a chance to inspect his vehicle. I will send an updated report after this happens. Thanks for your assistance. If there is more information needed, please let me know. Regards,[redacted]

The noise did not go away after they replaced the pulley that they thought was the problem. The keep ignoring the fact that when the revved the motor there was a big bang and from that point on the car has not ran right. The shop my car is at right now said it would have been impossible to have missed after replacing the part they thought was bad. Had they fixed the real problem my motor would be fine right now. I understand it has high mileage but that's not what broke my car, Them not fixing the right problem is why my motor is garbage now. And NO ONE said my motor was failing, they tried telling me there was a slight internal noise. The mechanic that worked on my car heard the same noise and that it was worse when I brought it back, that's why he didn't take for a test drive and took it into the bay right away.  I just want this made right is all.

Review: I took my car in for a noise they said they fixed it, it wasn't fixed so I brought it back. The mechanic said he heard the noise still took it back put it on the lift had brought me back to the car and they revved my motor a LOUD bang happened they shut it off and sent me on my way. I left and there was something more wrong with the car than when it was driven in, it was worse than when I brought it in. Had to have it towed, took to a different shop because I didn't trust car x at this point. They refuse to replace or fix the engine. The problems im having now is because they never fixed my car and made it worse and no is not drivable at all.Desired Settlement: I would like them to either fix my engine (rebuild) or replace it. Im not asking for a brand new engine. I would like my car up and running as well as it was when it was driven into car x.

Review: On 3/11 I brought my car into Car X because there was a check engine light on my dash. When I went in the first time they said that the light was on not because anything was wrong with the engine but because the air pump had a fault in it and it was probably a wiring problem. SO they fixed that they charged me $499.99 for parts and $196 in labor. Then on 3/20 I took the car back because the check engine light back on. They said the light came back on because the vacuum line was broken, they fixed this for free. Then on 3/21 my check engine light came back on again so I took it back to the shop. This time they said the light was coming on due to a bad sensor. So I had to pay $150.95 to get the sensor replaced. Then once again on 3/30 the light came back on so I took it back to them. Now this time they are saying it's the left and right sensor that were causing the light to come on so I paid 191.36 for them to replace the sensors again. Then once again a day later the check engine light comes on. The problem is I have paid them now $1038.30 plus tax to fix a problem that each time they claim will fix the problem. Now I have replaced several things on my car that didn't need replacing and my light is still on.Desired Settlement: I would like all or some of my money back since they haven't fixed the problem and I will take my car to somewhere else to get fixed.
