complaints regarding the services she received at Cardinal Dental Group. She is arguing that because her insurance company denied payment for services rendered, then the services we provided were unnecessary. She is stating that we performed unnecessary and dangerous work during her pregnancy. She is also stating she paid for uncompleted services, fluoride application. We have attempted to contact the patient several times and left messages for a call-back, however have yet to hear from the patient. I have enclosed a letter that was mailed to the patient in an effort to better educate her on the situation and to attempt to remedy the problem.Firstly, the treatment that was provided to the patient was necessary for her to address hercondition. We followed all protocols set forth by the American Dental Association when providing any dental care and have done nothing to compromise her health. It is perfectly normal to have necessary dental work completed during a pregnancy, so long as proper precautions are taken. I have asked the patient, via writing, to request a second opinion from a dentist to give her peace of mind that everything was done to the standards set forth by the ADA and California Dental Board. In the letter | mailed to the patient, I included copies of her initial periodontal exam, initial x-rays and treatment plan to aid her in getting a second unbiased opinion. It seems as though the patient feels that because her insurance company denied paying for her services then that, by default, means the services provided were unnecessary. I explained, in writing, that insurance companies can deny services for a variety of reasons. In addition, insurance companies do not necessarily have the patient's best interest at heart. Furthermore, we are in the process of having the insurance company re-review her claim and are expecting them to approve and cover the services that were provided. The administration of fluoride was not completed after the patient informed us of her pregnancy and thus the money was refunded to her account. We did not intend to charge for uncompleted services. We have attempted to contact the patient to explain the situation but she has failed to return our calls. We at Cardinal Dental Group, pride ourselves in providing exemplary service to our patients that far exceed the standards set for by the California Dental Board as well as the American Dental Association. We would appreciate the opportunity to explain everything to the patient so as to clarify any misunderstandings.Regards,[redacted]
