In August the client's spouse and responsible party indicated that some of the client's medications were missing from the homeCaregivers from this company were immediately removed from the home and were drug tested per policy within
hours; all resultis were negativeLaw enforcement was notified and a report filedIn spite of no conclusive evidence of theft, this company terminated one aide who stated she had "handed the medications to the wife when she asked me to" because our policy prohibits our aides from handling medications for any reasonThis client continued receiving services from our company without complaint or issues for an additional months (Oct 20, 2015)After theoffice manager of the Marion location quit and accepted employment at another agency, this client's responsible party terminated services with Care Companions and transfered client to the same agency on 10/20/On 10/22/the cluents daughter called to report multiple pieces of jewelry missing, however she did not know when the items disappeared; she stated she was "sure" an employee from our compsny took them "last fall"We immediately notified the case manager and filed a police reportThe District Director had several phone conversations with the complainant regarding company procedure for reporting and following up on allegations and complaints, all of which are being followedThe complainant has since also made allegations that other items (an iPod) were stolen by our staff, although she is unsure when, as well alleging damage to a couch, again at an unkown timeThe couch Iis no longer in the home, therefore no assessment of this issue can be , madeI called the complainant and discussed with her our company's procedure for reporting and following up on such allegations, including an acknowledgement in the Terms and Conditions signed at start of services by the client's spouse that the client agrees to report any items missing or damaged to the company within daysAs these allegations have been made for the first time over a year after she thinks the items disappeared, and without a credible police report indicating an employee of this company was involved, there is little we can do to resolve the issueThe complainant has declined to provide us with the appraisal of items and there is currently no completed police report indicating what actually occurred

The items that are in missing we located in my bedroom where no aid should beMy father is in the living room in a hospital bedHowever, if I take my mom out someone is not here watching the aidsThe items that are missing are pieces of jewelry that are not worn everydayThe owner has never asked for the appraisal of the itemsThe Marion City Police Depthas a copy of the original appraisal from and a copy of the updated appraisal from the jeweler where the items were originally purchasedNot all items listed on the original appraisal were taken and the updated appraisal are just of the items missingAs for the police report it is still an open case and the owner is more then welcome to contact the Marion City Police Deptto obtain a copy of the report case number is *** and the officer's name is ***Officer *** called and said that it will stay open however he checked pawn shops and could not locate any of the itemsHe stated "they" probably popped the stones out and had the gold melted or it was sold on CraigslistThe company was notified within days from the time I noticed itLike most crimes you do not know who committed a crime against you since it is not done out in the openAs for the couch, the Marion office manager was told about it however we did not want the girl to get in trouble or loose her job so it was just replaced and nothing else was ever mentioned about itNow, for the aid saying my mother asked her to hand her the pills is an out right lieThis medication was not taken on a daily basis and were out of sightIt took long enough to get the additional assistance for my dad and would never jeopardize loosing the assistance we do getI was also told that Care Companions filed a police report but have never been contact by an officer nor could they provide me with a claim numberI can say that Marion Police do not have a report under Care Companions and know that a report must be filed in the city it happened inThis is yet another lie from the companyAt this point I know the company is just trying to cover up this issueI have notified Passport of Ohio (Area for Aging) and they are coming to the house for an interview and will be conducting their own investigation of the issueThe lack of concern or empathy from Carol S*** is appalling and to be told to "prove it" is unconscionableThis is a business in health care and who knows what happens in others home who are elderly and have no one else to stand up for themIn closing Carol is more then welcome to contact me or the police department for the items she mentioned iepolice report and appraisals
