Review: When I signed up for school at CTA I was promised the world and nothing was delivered. I was told that CTA was CODA accredited and that I would be able to transfer my credits towards a dental hygiene degree at a later time. I was also told that the school tested for our EFDA certification and radiology certification at the end. neither of those certifications are provided by CTA, they are issued by the state and I have to pay for both, but I was told they were included in my tuition. CTA is more or less herding cattle and handing out "A" grades and just passing everyone. I would never tell anyone to go to this school and I would never recommend it. So now I am 13,000+ in debt in school loan debt and unable to transfer my credits to further my education.Desired Settlement: I think CTA needs to be investigated and should be reprimanded for telling new students lies just to get them to join the school.

I am writing to you in response by a complaint made to the Revdex.com by [redacted] was a student at Career Training Academy (CTA) from February 3, 2014 until December 18,2014. Ms. [redacted] was enrolled in and graduated from our Dental Assistant Program. Her first complaint cites that Career Training Academy claimed to be CODA (Commission on Dental Accreditation)accredited. We have never pursued this accreditation and nowhere in any of our admissions materials does it stateotherwise. We also do not have any formal articulation agreements with other colleges where student’s credits can betransferred into a dental hygiene program. However, if a student wants to go on into a dental hygiene program atanother college, our program coordinator and lead instructor will provide the receiving school any necessaryinformation to make the transfer go smoothly as possible. Ms. [redacted] has never made the request to have her transcriptsent to another school. I am enclosing a statement from the admission officer, [redacted], who worked with[redacted] during the admissions and enrollment process. She also stated in her complaint that CTA tested for EFDA (Expanded Function Dental Assistant) and radiologycertification at the end of the program. Throughout the Dental Assistant program, the students receive a broadbackground in the fundamentals of EFDA standards. After successful completion of all classroom training and anexternship, the students receive a diploma and are then eligible to sit for the Pennsylvania Dental RadiologyExamination and the Pennsylvania Board of Dentistry Expanded Function Dental Assistant Examination. Theseexaminations need to be taken at a certified testing center and the student is responsible for the cost of these exams. This is all clearly outlined to the student in the school catalog and reinforced by their instructors. At new studentorientation, students are told that they are responsible for the cost of any certification testing, in any of our programs. Iam enclosing a PowerPoint slide that shows this topic. Ms. [redacted] did attend the orientation session.Ms. [redacted] also had complaints about CTA handing out “A” grades and just passing everyone. It is unfortunate that shefeels that way. CTA is accredited by ACCSC (Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges) and thisagency holds us to the highest standards and regularly monitors our performance. We are required to provide them withinformation about our school and student assessment and grading is a very important concern of the agency. If we justhanded out “A” grades we would not be able to maintain this accreditation. Also, this complaint was sent to our Monroeville campus. Ms. [redacted] was a student at our main campus in NewKensington.Thank you for your time in reviewing this and please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.Sincerely,Campus Director — New Kensington Campus

Review: One of the main reasons Career Training Academy sold me on their school is their flexibility with my schedule. I was told when signing up for classes I could get an evening externship. When the time came, it "wasn't possible" to get an evening externship. This is false advertising just so they can take my money because that's what I was looking for. In addition, I went through multiple clinic teachers due to overturn of the school (they can't keep staff) and each clinic teacher taught me something different. Some teachers even showed us [redacted] and let us grade our own tests and make our own grades. Tell me why I should pay for schooling like that?Desired Settlement: I should not have to pay for something I never received (proper training/ schooling).

I am writing in response to Ms. [redacted] formal complaint filed with your officeon September 3, 2015. The basis of her letter of complaint was focused on AdvertisingIssues related to enrollment and externship opportunities as an evening student. Ms.[redacted] enrolled in the Medical Assistant Evening program on December 27, 2013. Atthe time of enrollment, Ms. [redacted] completed her admissions interview, where shewas informed and acknowledged, in writing, that successful completion of anexternship is a requirement of graduation. Included in the acknowledgement form Ms.[redacted] reviewed and signed, Career Training Academy specifically outlines that:"Externship hours will be scheduled during the day and are typically full time betweenthe hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. This will require nightstudents to complete externship hours during the day. Night externship hours arerarely available, therefore, students must not count on the possibility of working nightexternship hours."As a point of reference I have provided Ms. [redacted] Acknowledgement forCareer Training Academy's Student Notice for Medical Students re: externship and herapplication for admission, both dated on her enrollment date of 12-27-2013.In response to Ms. [redacted] comments on the frequency with which we she had differentclinical instructors, Career Training Academy schedules faculty on the basis of theirqualifications and credentials for teaching a specific class. For example, a particularinstructor will be selected because they possess certain credentials required to teach certain course. It is not unusual to for instructors to be rotated through the scheduledue to the requirements of the program and the particular programs being taught.Ms. [redacted] further states the instructors permitted the students to develop and gradeassessments. There are appropriate learning conditions for peer-to-peer review ofstudents' work. In order to fully respond to Ms. [redacted] ascertain more detail isneeded concerning the specific class and assignments. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you require additional information.Nicole L**Campus Director

Review: I am a medical assistant diploma student at Career Training Academy at their new location in West View. I started in January 2015, and was told they would work with me due to my medical problems. I have cyclic vomiting syndrome, IBS, and chronic migraines. I found out very quickly this was not true, and that any time I missed I had to make up by coming in on my time off and writing papers. This would have been fine, but I lost out on valuable clinic experience. I also felt I was sold a lie when I first signed up and signed the contract to go there. I was under the impression that I would be spending 85% of my day in the clinic doing hands on training, as opposed to doing bookwork. The opposite was true. The clinic equipment is about 20 years old and no longer used in the filed. While I have been there I have felt discriminated against and bullied by the teachers and director. I had to take a medical leave for two months due to being ill, upon my return I was supposed to go on my externship, but had no one helping me find one even though they have an externship coordinator. I have had several teachers speak ill of me behind my back, and share things with other students that were in my personal file. I have felt singled out in class for no reason. Finically I paid on my own. I was told several times I owed more money when I already was signed off saying I did not owe anymore money. I think for the amount of money I paid to go here and the discrimination, harassment, and bulling I put up with I deserve a full refund.Desired Settlement: A full refund, along with my diploma, as I am going to finish the course.

[redacted] enrolled in the Medical Assistant diploma program, starting on January 5,2015 (see attached enrollment agreement). At that time she was provided a Career TrainingAcademy (CTA) catalog. On the Enrollment Agreement, she signed acknowledging that shereceived a catalog which describes all programs, policies and procedures at Career TrainingAcademy.Attached is the Medical Assistant diploma program from the catalog (which [redacted] received)that shows that the Clinic class in every mod is one-half of the hours in the mod, not 85%that [redacted] states she was told.Students in the medical programs must attend 85% of the clock hours of the program (seeAttendance Policy from the catalog). For each module of 80 hours attended, students arepermitted to miss 12 hours. Anything missed above 12 hours requires the student to makeup the excess hours. [redacted] missed more than 12 hours every module except one. As partof its academic operations, Career Training Academy contacts students on missed days toidentify when they plan to come back to school. In support of this operational practice, many phone calls were made to [redacted] regarding her missed attendance at CTA. Primarilydue to her attendance problems, she failed the classes that began on March 2, which shestarted to repeat in July 2015. During this time, [redacted] contracted mononucleosis and hadto take a medical leave of absence for 2 months per her doctor's orders. When her medical leave ended, [redacted] was required to make up all the time missed andcomplete her schoolwork before she was eligible to go on externship. She is completing thatwork now and her make up time should be completed by October 22, 2015.CTA's Medical Assistant Externship Coordinator at the West View campus obtained anexternship site for [redacted] to attend when her make-up work was to be done, but she turnedthat site down. She said she gave the Externship Coordinator many places to contact forher. Career Training Academy has formal contractual relationships with our externship sites.Students cannot be sent to medical sites unless there is a signed externship contract withthat site. [redacted] expressed a desire to go to the [redacted]. In support ofthis request, our Director of Placement, who procures CTA's externship site agreements, contacted the Salvation Army Clinic. The Salvation Army had not responded to CTA as ofTuesday, October 20, 2015. In the interim, CTA's Externship Coordinator is awaiting atelephone call from another contracted externship site that may agree to take [redacted].In a review of [redacted]'s education record, no reports to school administrators of bullying, actsof discrimination and/or instructors speaking ill of her, can be found. Additionally, CTAinstructors do not have access to students' education files. The only comment found to bereported by [redacted] was that other students yell at instructors and nothing is done to them. When I questioned [redacted] about the specifics of what students and what teachers weresaying, she would not tell me.[redacted] and her mother came into our campus on 10/15/15 and proceeded to go to theFinancial Aid Office, screaming that they didn't owe any money and they had paperwork toprove it. In the Financial Aid Office, [redacted]'s mother stated that she had a paper showingthat [redacted]'s account was paid in full and she didn't owe the money on the paper she had. When asked to see the paper or to make a copy of the amount in question, (thinking it wasthe repeat charge for the module she failed), [redacted]'s mother refused, all the time sayingF you many times. She disrupted classes and her foul language also carried into theAdmission's office where a prospective student was enrolling. Not being able to get a wordin edgewise, [redacted]'s mother proceeded to slam the financial aid door, repeating the F....word as she walked out the front door. She was told that if she couldn't be civil, she couldn'tcome back into the building. On October 15, 2015 [redacted] was given the name and phone number of CTA's Controllershould she want to further discuss her financial issue. The Controller is located at CTA'smain campus. [redacted] did not call the CTA Controller but rather the school President, atwhich time she left a voicemail. The President and the Controller returned [redacted]'svoicemail promptly. [redacted] expressed her frustration resulting from the billing errors on herstudent account. The President and Controller reviewed the account and found the errorthat resulted in an outstanding balance on [redacted]'s account in the amount of $1,347.18.The President and Controlled apologized to [redacted] for the error and agreed to issue her a fullcredit on her account. Upon her acceptance of this resolution, CTA considered the issueresolved. [redacted] is now requesting a full tuition refund in the amount of $15,148.18, whichCareer Training Academy has declined. As agreed during her discussion with the President and Controller, [redacted] attended the WestView campus on 10/19 and 10/20 to continue making up her missed coursework and tomeet with the Externship Coordinator to secure her CTA approved externship site.CTA West View has diligently worked with [redacted] to help her to catch up on her work. Shehas received instruction by credentialed faculty members on the days she attended hermake-up coursework sessions; and was offered the same help as all CTA's students. She iscurrently on track to begin her externship component of the program and has an anticipatedgraduation date of February 2016.Attachments: Enrollment AgreementCTA Attendance PolicyMedical Assistant Diploma program

Review: I was charged 30.00 dollars as an application fee to start classes on June 30,2014. They canceledthe classes . I called to they reschedule when they had enough students signed up and I was to start September 2, 2014. I furthered my research on this school and have decided to go else where I would just like a refund of the money they took. If I had started when I was suppose to I would not have this issue. They canceled in me and stole the money. Not professional at allDesired Settlement: 30.00 refund
