Dear Mr. [redacted]:This correspondence is in reply to your letter to [redacted], datedJuly 10 2017 in reference to a complaint made by a student enrolled at CareGiver Training Academy, LLC located in Anchorage, Alaska.Response to Statements:1. The student was enrolled in the May 2017 class.2. There...

was a written contract signed by the student.3. A daily syllabus was written onto the classroom blackboard by theinstructor. The assignment included reading and preparation for nextday's discussion.4. All classes are prepaid before teaching commences. This is standard.5. The teaching requires reading of a textbook and completing aworkbook to demonstrate understanding of the theories andpracticum. The workbook demonstrates understanding of CNA tasks.6. The student's clinical period of 6 days was at the State of AlaskaPioneer Home facility, in Anchorage. The facility is owned andoperated by the State. The health care staff includes LPNs, RNs, andCNAs. The facility has a wide variety of patients with needs whichprovides a wide variety of learning experiences. The standards ofnursing care are established and followed by the nursing staff. As to the complainant's comments regarding the Pioneer Home'sconditions, her comments in her complaint were vague and nonspecific. This facility is a public entity not a private entity and thefacility operates on a state budget.7. The student's comments/concerns were not dismissed by theinstructor, however, there is nothing the instructor could do to makechanges to the facility. This student's level of education andexperience is minimum and her comments may have been wellintended but were also uninformed.8. The student's comment that the instructor was not concerned for thewelfare of the patients is non-specific. The instructor has been aregistered nurse for many years and knowledgable concerning therules and regulations of the Pioneer Home and what can and cannot beaddressed by an outside contractor.9. The instructor did not state to the student that the student's paperswere lost. The tally sheet was always in the Academy's office. Finalexams needed to be graded. The instructor needed the student's totaltally sheet and when she located the tally sheet she signed it. The finalexam was completed on June 3rd and graded on June 6, 2017. Three days between exam and grading is not unreasonable.10. There is no three day rule of the Board of Nursing for submission ofcertificates of completion of training. The student called the Boardand was told that the certification examination given by the Board wasfull for the June 2017 exam. Thus, the student could not have takenthe exam in June.11. The student's certification of completion of training was stamped onJuly 6, 2017 and the Board exam was taken on July 15, 2017.12.The student's comments that "the entire class was waiting" is vague, arbitrary and lacking names, dates and/or delays in taking thecertification exam. No response is necessary to these comments.13 .Disputed Amount: The student received the education she paid for.She was aware of the cost prior to the signing of the contract. Shereceived 12 days classroom and 6 days of clinical experience. Herexam was graded within three days of taking the exam and wassubmitted in time for the Board exam in July, 2017. The studentknew that the June Board certification examination was full as shecontacted the Board and was notified directly, so he complaint of adelay is without substance.14. The instructor did not violated any standards of nursing care and for astudent to suggest that a registered nurse's license should be revokeddemonstrates that the student lacks knowledge of nursing standards. The above addresses the comments made by this student. The student is not entitled to a refund of the cost of instruction. Thestudent was provided classroom and clinical studies and passed her Board ofNursing certification examination. She received what she paid for.Sincerely,Linda *. W[redacted]
