Careli Rental Services Reviews (2)

On Thursday, June 12, 2014, [redacted] hosted an event on site for which we used Careli Party Rentals for 8 tables, 36 chairs and 8 linens. During set-up, we were unable to use four of the tables for various reasons...one table was missing a screw that attached the leg to the table top, another table would not latch into place because the hardware was worn down too far for the mechanism to engage, the third table engaged but the top was slanted to the point that it was not usable. The fourth table had been patched with white puddy that did not match the brown tabletop, when we placed the white tablecloth (also rented from Careli) atop, the patched areas shown through and was aesthetically unpleasing. The party was to arrive at seven pm. I phoned Careli to inform them at 5:08, in order to resolve the problem. I was told that we would be charged a delivery fee of $90 for them to come back to our establishment; it did not matter if they were at fault, and we would have to pay. The man I spoke with insisted that I did not understand how to properly assemble the tables and that it was not possible for them to be broken. I assured him this was not the case. I let him know that this was not a solution and I needed to figure out another plan. I was called by a second person, [redacted], at 5:21, who said she was calling because she needed to explain to me how to use the tables (it is a standard foldable table that latches into place, not complicated). She said that they would come out and only charge us if the tables were broken. By this point, we were already painting some old, smaller tables that we had in storage, so that we could be ready in time for the event. I let her know that I did not have time to wait for them to come out but that we could look at them together when they came to pick them up. She assured me that she would call me when they were on their way so I could meet them. The following day, I called to check and see if they had any idea as to when they would arrive. [redacted] said it was impossible to know when they could get to us, but assured me again that she would call me when they were on the way. At 3:09, I received a call from a [redacted] employee, [redacted] who told me Careli was there and they needed to know where the linens were stored. I asked him to let the driver know that I would be there in five minutes to give him the linens and look at the tables. When I arrived, [redacted] was very upset by the driver who evidently had been rude to him when he asked him to wait because he was in a hurry. Based on my experience on the phone with this gentlemen (he was condescending and established a position of power, repeating the phrases, "Maam, you are not listening to me" and "That is not possible maam, you just don't know what you are doing"), I did not feel comfortable speaking with him alone so I had a fellow employee who had worked the party come with me. When I walked outside, there were a couple other employees outside smoking. They stood back while I spoke with him. He refused to look at the tables with me because he was in a hurry. He claimed to have no instructions or knowledge of this, and I told him it would only take a moment. He was really aggressive in his tone. I called the company and spoke with [redacted] who said she would call him. He refused to answer his phone claiming that it was against policy for him to use the phone while doing pick-ups. At that point, the other employees chimed in and asked why he wouldn't just look at the tables with us, quickly. He cussed at them and said he felt threatened. In the same breath, he threatened them, that if they didn't get the bleep away they were going to be sorry. [redacted] said she would look at the tables when they got back to the warehouse, to which I replied this situation was unacceptable and how was I to be sure that was true when she didn't call me to let me know they were coming and she had assured me we would look at the tables which also was not happening. I asked her to issue a refund and make this right. She refused and insisted that I let her handle it after she looked at the tables. The driver was irate and unwilling to work with us. He jumped in his van, and began to drive quickly out of the lot. An employee was standing in front of the van and had to jump out of the way to avoid being hit. There were only inches between the person and the van. The person, [redacted], slapped the side of the van when it nearly hit him. The driver slammed the breaks, jumped out of the van, opened the back and pulled out a three foot crowbar while shouting and cussing about who hit the van and who wanted to [redacted] with him now...He got back into the van and peeled out of the lot, into traffic, nearly hitting a pedestrian, he forgot the linens. I was still on the phone with [redacted] who I told that he had left without the linens but if he returned I would have to call the police. She said she would pick them up personally on Monday, today. I have not heard from them since. Even after the driver pulled a weapon on us, [redacted] refused to settle the issue, which to her, was still only about the tables. I do not want to be charged for not returning the linens, and I would like a full refund for the "services" we paid for.Desired SettlementI would like a full refund for the "services" we paid for

Careli Rental Services agreed to refund my deposit of $266.00 for rental services and they have failed to do so. On Nov. 22, 2014 I made a $266 deposit for rental services from Careli Events for my daughter's June 20, 2015 wedding. The contract I signed states that refunds for deposits could be made if cancellation is received 3 weeks prior to the scheduled delivery. In late February 2015, I tried to contact Careli. After several tries by telephone, I emailed them the following on March 3, 2015: Has your phone number changed? I have tried to reach you at both numbers shown on your website. "My daughter is renting chairs from you for her wedding the weekend of June 20 at [redacted]. We also need to rent a white backdrop. Do you have backdrops for rent?Their response: We are moving to a new space and we're close this week due the transition. This supposed to happen two weeks ago but with the snow we were not able to do it. The phone has been very busy and all our lines are forwarded to [redacted] I'll give you a call first thing in the morning to give you the backdrop options we have. Sorry for the inconvenience. We tried to move on one of our slowest month, before we get really busy but weather has not been good with us to make this change easy and fast. I apologize for the problem with the phonesWhen they finally contacted me back, they were unable to locate my contractas they were having issues with their computer and that my contract was still valid. I told them I wanted to know for sure that they were able to recover my contract. Their next phone call informed me that they were unable to locate my contract but that they would honor the agreement, "no worries". On April 23, 2015 I contacted them by phone and told them that I was uncomfortable with that arrangement and that I wanted to cancel the contract and receive a full refund of my deposit. They said they would issue the refund. On May 8, 2015, I emailed a copy of my contract (included my receipt for deposit) and submitted a written cancellation for their services and asked for confirmation that my reimbursement had been processed. Since then, I have been unable to reach them by phone and email. They are no longer at the location they were at when I rented their services. My deposit was made with a charge card. Desired SettlementI want a full refund for my deposit of $ $266.00.
