Carey's Diesel Inc. Reviews (3)

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 11007062, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
[redacted]’s Background and Credentials:* U. S. Navy  1968-1978*Retired after 25 years from local law enforcement*Certified Captain’s license issued in 1988 through the U.S. Coast Guard to operate vessels up to 100 tons*Owner/CEO of an industrial manufacturing company for twenty-two years.*Mechanical, electrical and pneumatic engineer.  *Boat owner for forty years owning numerous different power boats ranging from 20’ to 50’,                        including four Vikings prior to this purchase of a 43’ Viking. Description of the fraudulent acts of Carey Diesel in the rebuilding of the 43’ Viking, “Driller”.As indicated from my above background and credentials, I have full knowledge of the necessary requirements needed to operate a boat safely and properly.  To have Carey Diesel insinuate that there could have been an issue with warming up the engines properly or there being a lack of oil is absolutely incorrect and unjustifiable backed up by an oil sample taken once back in Michigan after running the boat for the first ten hours. The sea trial in Leipsic, Delaware was only 30 minutes on a small river, the Leipsic River.  A more adequate sea trial should have been longer to insure proper workmanship of the rebuilt Port Engine. A written receipt was hand delivered to me by [redacted] on April 30, 2015, as I wired the final payment for the boat with a re-built engine. The Man parts were not purchased from an authorized Man dealer.  This is collaborated by the Man-authorized service center in Pompano Beach, Florida, verified by Vincent Dallmier, service parts coordinator. These uncertified, non-authorized dealers parts were sent to Pompano Beach and inspected and had no Man part #’s.   All Man certified parts do have Man numbers, in which the Invoice attached indicated the correct numbers which did not appear on the parts taken from the engine.  The parts that Carey Diesel stated that they put in the Port engine were not authorized Man parts.  This created a fraudulent act of deception, only detected by complete break-down, inspection, and rebuild of the engine with the proper Man parts here in Michigan, at a cost of $24,424.61. Actually, many of the stated replacement parts as indicated on the original invoices, were not even put into this Port engine.I am seeking restitution for the complete cost of $24,424.61 for the rebuild of the Port engine on this 43’ Viking Yacht, “Driller”.

Carey's Diesel repaired this motor for the previous owner of this boat (Driller). We replaced all parts per our customers request to repair his motor to his satisfaction. After the repair was done numerous sea trials were done with all party's involved with this repair. Once the repairs were final...

our customer sold the boat to [redacted] and Mr. [redacted] took possession of the boat and transported it over the road by trailer to another state. The problem Mr. [redacted] had with the motor could have been caused by the cold starting of the motor and/or not letting the motor warm up before running the boat hard or lack of oil. Also, a fuel dilution can cause this as well.  We at Carey's Diesel provided a 30 daywarranty for this repair because of our original customers repair instructions.  Due to the low amount of hours the crankshaft was not removed for inspection to check for imperfections or out of roundjournals.  Regarding the counterfeit parts concerns Mr. [redacted] has all parts for this repair, werepurchased from a authorized Mann vendor and shipped out of Germany. To address Mr. [redacted] issues on the injectors, had new nozzles replaced on them and then were pop tested to ensure they were working properly.  The purchase price Mr. [redacted] references to is for the cost of purchasing the vessel/boat from the original customer.

Review: I drove my Ford F350 Diesel with my trailer to Dover Delaware to pick up my son to take him to Florida and on1/28/15 my truck stopped running in the middle of the road in Dover and a wrecker service picked up my truck and took me to Carey's to have it checked out and they told me that my oil pump went out and the motor would have to rebuilt so I ask them to fix it, so 4 days later all that got done was parts were taken of my motor and they only spent 1 and1/2 days on so I called mechanic in Florida where I live and he said it sounded like one of the sensors went bad so he said if I could get it back to Florida he would check it out so I stopped work on the truck and had it trucked back to Florida at accost to me of $1500.00 so had to rent a U-Haul to pull my Trailer back to Florida well once I got it here the mechanic here put all the parts they took off back on my motor and changed 2 censors on the engine and it runs great so all I needed was 2 censors changer and I could have drove home with it .Carey's charged me $1993.00 just for one day and a half's work just to take parts off my motor and tell me I needed the motor rebuilt I don't consider this a fair price for what little they did because when I got the truck here this mechanic replaced 2 censors and put the parts back on the motor and only charged me $1700.00 to get my truck back on the road here it is 2/20/15nd my truck still runs fine. I don't think I should have had to pay more than half what they charged me up there and I think in good faith they should refund half my money back. It an out of town visitor it doesn't look good for the business people in Dover Delaware now does it. Desired Settlement: I don't say they don't deserve some thing for their work on my truck but to charge me $1993.00 and not repair it correctly is not fair to me I ended up spending $5500.00 to get my truck back on the but had they diagnosed the problem correctly it would not have cost much over $1100.00 total and I could have drove my truck home. So I think it would be only right if Carey's would reimburse me at least half of that $1993.00 back that sounds fair to me.
