I purchased a gift card from Carnival Cruise lines several weeks prior to my brother's wedding, as I was really excited to give them a vacation get-a-way as a wedding present as they could not afford one. I selected the delivery option that would ensure I received the gift card ample time in advance since I had to travel to my brother's wedding. Unfortunately, the gift cards did not arrive and so I had to follow-up with the company directly. I received the run around forever, and then was finally told that the gift card "plastic stock" was on back order and that the company would not be able to send my gift card out until several weeks after my brother's wedding. As this was obviously unacceptable, I then requested a refund for the gift card. I was told that the company could not guarantee me a refund, but would send the request through to "corporate". I let them know that this was unacceptable to me and that I needed a refund immediately so that I could go and get my brother a wedding present. The agent was completely unhelpful, so I requested a escalation to a manager. The manager was also completely unhelpful and gave me the main Carnival Cruise Lines phone number to call and voice my complaints. After calling the main Carnival Cruise Lines number, I spoke with several people who "cared" and "understood", but that could not solve my problem. So, basically, I am left without a wedding gift (that was promised by the company), and without any available funds to purchase an alternate wedding gift (because the company refuses to get me a refund). Furthermore, when I asked the Carnival Cruise Lines "customer support" representative if they could transfer me to someone who not only cared, but also that could help with the situation, they said that person did not exist. REALLY??? There is no one in the whole company who can solve a problem created by Carnival Cruise Lines completely for an obviously unsatisfied customer??? CCL should be ashamed of themselves, and also should remove their "hold music" message that says that my call is important to them. Clearly my call is not important, my business is not important, and your customer's are not important. Well, remove me from the last category - I'll never make the mistake of trying to be a customer again.
