Our house is new and the Air/heating system is new, I have had so many problems with this company. They don't stand by their work, they have been out to my house at least 8 times. At one point, a part upstairs in the attic melted and could have easy caught fire, It doesn't make sense that they had to come so many times to repair a new system. I would never recommend them to my worse enemy. I mentioned to them that I would not pay them for coming until they get the system running right. The last time they came out, they didn't bill me at that time, a couple of weeks later, I get a letter from a collection agency showing where they had billed me without letting me know. I will not pay this bill. I do not recommend this company, they are crooks and do sloppy work. DON'T CALL THEM, THEY ARE THE WORSE, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEM, take your business somewhere else if you need Air/heating work done.

When it comes to this company, I will never hire this company for a job nor will I ever suggest this company to anyone. I have had my home for a little over 2 years and I have had multiple issues with the company. They have been to my home to work on the unit time after time. Claimed the issue was corrected and was not. I was pregnant at the time and I had the air go out on me twice, during the summer weather. The last time that brought me to this issue was they left the job incomplete at my home. They left damper wires just sitting on top not connected to have the unpstairs and down stair system to speak to one another.
The company claimed to have reached out 3 times with no answer. They did not try to reach out any other way. A year later I had to have another company come out to find the problem because my unit froze over causing water leakage upstairs which then created water damage in my home. And issues with my alarm system, which I had to pay for to get fixed.
They came out to complete the job a year later because I had to call them and inform them of the problem. They sent 2 technicians out and guess what they did. Mixed the wires so downstairs air was controlling up stairs and upstairs was controlling downstairs temperature.
DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY WITH THIS COMPANY

This company took advantage of an 86 year old VFW that was suffering from heat exhaustion. They charged him approx $1600 for the same thing that a local competitor only charged approx $1115 for. This dishonesty is appauling and needs to be made public so that they are not able to continue victimizing people that aren't lucky enough to have anyone watching out for them. Luckily CCA was stopped before they could preform any of the instillation and my Grandfather's money was returned to him, but that was only because I called relentlessly trying to complain and then had to go to a local branch office before I could get someone to take my call and speak with me. They did everything they could to avoid dealing with me and then were only interested in defending their reputation once they relized that I wasn't going away.
Once it was established that the refund had been processed, I didn't hear anything else regarding the complaint. I called the company out of the fact that their actions were of a criminal nature and provided the reference to NC General Statute CH 14-112.2(b)(ii)(3), to validate my claim. They didn't distance themselves from the employee claiming that he was not acting in the spirit of their business or anything of the like; they simply denied it and complained that they didn't get paid. I'll state here what I did there, just because the attempt was not successful does not make the act any less illegal..If a burglar gets stopped after entering a home by the home owner pulling a shot gun, that doesn't make the burglary legal, it just means that the home owner was prepared and managed to defend themselves. Likewise here, luckily the situation was caught in time and the act prevented, but the company charging his credit card and then leaving means that the act was complete, the stolen merchandise was reclaimed not retro actively protected.
The company that we went through in the end is not involved in this in any regards so I will be keeping their name out of this, but if there are any questions to my claims I have copies of both invoices showing where the 2nd company charged 69.99% of what CCA did, and there is no way anyone can justify that amount of mark up as fair market.
So in the hope that this comment is allowed to service the greater good and help people to protect themselves and their elderly family members and friends from being taken advantage of, I strongly recommend that you DO NOT use CCA for anything, it doesn't matter who you use, I'm not trying to pitch for anyone, I just can't sit idely by while people like this treat others this horribly. Especially not in a military town like Jacksonville, you'd think there would be a little more respect for someone that fought in 3 wars for our country.","neg-2

Don't call these guys got six estimates. Carolina comfort air was my last appointment. [redacted] gave me an estimate that was 3,000 more than the highest one I received. How do you guys sleep at night trying to rip people off. But you probably sucker someone so this is why I write this review to help others.","neg-3

I do not recommend Carolina Comfort Air. They installed our HVAC system in a new house and neglected to charge the unit with adequate refrigerant. Two years later, the compressor malfunctioned and their technician claimed the reversing valve needed to be replaced. Another company replaced the condenser and added refrigerant at a lower cost and fixed the problem. ","neg-4

Instillation of central air issues 2 years after installed. Issues getting AC fixed.I closed on my house in July of 2013. Ive had no issues with my AC until about three weeks ago when it stopped working. I called an AC repair company to diagnose it. Carolina Comfort air was called later when I discovered they installed it. The drain pain snapped off at the PVC pipe and I've received no explanation of what would cause this other than "it just happens". Instead of taking the invoice from the first company which had the part number listed on it, they charged me $89 to be in my house and tell me what I already knew which took about 10 minutes. I had the company order the part under warranty and waited a week for it to be repaired, only for that day (May 27th, 2015) to come and I am told that the wrong part was ordered. I have now waited another week for it to be repaired to be told that the service charge is $438.00 for about an hour work and thats also paying for when he came out before and did nothing but tell me he had the wrong part. My AC will finally be repaired on June 4th 2015, but I am NOT satisfied with the service I have received. I understand things take time to order, but I have waited two weeks for this. I have a 6 month old baby, a 9 year old and two pets. My dog is suffering from heat exhaustion because of how hot my house is, but had the care of been taken when originally installing it, this would not of happened. Had care and attention been paid when ordering the part, the correct one would have been ordered the first time and my air conditioning would be fully functional. I do not feel it is my responsibility to pay almost $500 for a problem that was caused by the original instillation and I do not feel as though I should have to pay an outrageous amount of money for TWO service calls, one in which resulted in nothing. I will NOT be recommending this company to anyone in the future due to the service I have received. I am a reasonable person and work should be paid for, but when HVAC repair techs are charging more than lawyers and doctors for an hour or so of work, work that should not need to be done to begin with, that is insane.Desired SettlementI am willing to pay half of the service fee for services rendered. I do not feel as though $438 is a reasonable amount of money for the length of time I have waited and and being told the wrong part was ordered. Business Response /[redacted]/Good Morning! I am [redacted], the Service Manager with Carolina Comfort Air. When we ordered the drain pan for Ms. [redacted] home we ordered the correct part number, however the wrong part was shipped in a box labeled with the right part number on the box. Unfortunately we had no idea of knowing this until the tech got to the home or we would have corrected before hand. Carolina Comfort Air did not charge $438 to install the pan. We did this at no charge to Ms. [redacted]. Again our apologize for this happening, unfortunately we do not control a part coming in the right box being wrong. Our goal at Carolina Comfort Air is to keep each of our homeowners comfortable in their home. If I can be of further assistance please feel free to contact me at XXX-XXX-XXXX

Company engaged in deceptive business practices by billing Service Call Charge without disclosing charge to customers prior to sending out technician. We recently received correspondence from a debt collection agency on behalf of Carolina Comfort Air, attempting to collect on an $89 service charge that was never disclosed to us until the end of a service visit.Carolina Comfort Air was hired by our builder and installed the new HVAC system in our home that was built in late 2014. On May 12th 2016, we contacted Carolina Comfort Air in reference to a problem with the downstairs thermostat not properly regulating the scheduled temperatures. We advised the representative that that this was an almost new system (a little over a year and a half old) that had been installed by your company. The representative recommended that a service technician be dispatched to our home to attempt to resolve the problem. At no time during the telephone call to schedule the service did the Carolina Comfort Air representative notify us that Carolina Comfort Air charges a flat $89 service charge just to inspect the unit, and that this visit also does not fall under the warranty period for our new unit. On May 13th, 2016, a service technician arrived at our home and immediately, without any mention of any such "service charge", began investigating the settings on the thermostat in question. After only approximately ten minutes, he notified said that the settings all seemed correct and he was not able to find any issues with the thermostat. The technician then proceeded to draft and attempt to hand us a bill, advising that there was an $89 "service charge" due, and requested immediate payment prior to leaving. Understandably we declined, explaining that no such charges had been disclosed prior to the visit, and that we would not agree to pay such a charge for a visit which was, (1) thought to be covered under the warranty period for the unit, (2) Unremarkable, and without action and resolution to the thermostat, and (3) Deceptive in practice by failing to disclose of fees for "service visits" in advance. In the week following, I received a call from a representative with your company advising that the service technician notified her that we had declined to pay for the service call, and that payment needed to be remitted immediately. I explained the circumstances outlined above to her, at which time she stated that our system had an "18 month warranty period", and we therefore "just missed the warranty period" and were subject to the service visit fee. I explained that this fee was never disclosed at the time of the original call, nor was the thermostat even repaired, and that we therefore would not agree to any such fee. She then continued to attempt to advise me on what I needed to do to help investigate the thermostat problem so that the technician could come out and try again to fix the unit. I subsequently explained that I would handle investigating the thermostat issue on my own moving forward and did not need their assistance with that any further. We are extremely disappointed with your organization with regards to the deceptive manner in which service charges are levied without prior disclosure.Desired SettlementWe therefore request that you remove the $89 service charge from our account and contact the collections agency advising them of such. We also request that notification be sent to the respective credit agencies informing them that this debt was incorrect on the part of the billing agency and that our credit reports be revised to reflect such.More Info From The ConsumerGood Morning,We received a telephone call this morning from the business regarding our complaint. They apologized for the incident and removed the charge from our account. They also said that they would be sure to work to ensure that all customers be notified when calling of the service charge fee prior to sending technicians out. Complaint was resolved to our satisfaction.Thank you.

Carolina Comfort installed a new HVAC unit and less then 18 months it was inoperable due to install neglect. They then charged me a undisclosed fees.I hired Carolina Comfort Air to install a brand new HVAC system on 9/18/14 at my home. They have been payed in full for the original install. on Approximately 8/1/16 I experienced my first issue with the system. It was not cooling properly so I called and reached there emergency service voicemail. I left a all my contact information and waited for a response I never received. During this time I shut the unit down and started it back up a couple hours later. the issue had appeared to resolve itself. on 8/20/16 I experienced the same issue again. This time I was able to reach there service dispatcher. I talked to him and explained what was going on. I told him that I had already called a couple weeks ago with no response and that I was having the same issue again. He asked if they installed the unit I responded yes and told him it was a pretty new system. He pulled up my account and was able to locate my address. he said that he would send out a tech to take a look. During this conversation not once did he mention a trip charge or fee. I assumed that Carolina Comfort would diagnose it free of charge as it was not an old system and I was a current customer.the tech arrived later on that day and when he got out of his van he took a quick look at my inside coils and then put his test gauges on my unit. all this took about 10 mins. He then proceeded to tell me that he needed to do a leak down test and that would cost 325$ I politely asked that he leave. He waled back towards my unit and again I asked him to leave. at this point he did leave. This all took place on the weekend and I received a call from there office on Monday. The lady that called wanted to figure out exactly what happen. I explained to her that I was not made aware of any fees and had I been I would not have requested someone to look at it. the only reason I called this specific company was because they did the original install. she told me that they were going to bill me a 139$ Diagnostic fee. I told her I would not pay that as this is the first time I had ever heard mention of it. she told me that the service dispatcher should have told me about the fees prior to sending a tech. I told her that he did not. she apologized and offered me a free hvac inspection. I told her that I did not need/want that. I just wanted her to remove the charges and we could both go our on ways. she declined. they have now sent me a bill for 139$Additionally the same day all this took place I called another HVAC tech to come in and take a look at the system. he found it was low on Freon and found the reason why the Freon was leaking. Turns out the system was leaking due to a install error.Desired SettlementI am seeking that Carolina Comfort Air disregard the bill as I feel they deceptively charged me.Business Response Carolina Comfort Air and the client disagree about the fee notification. It is our standard practice to let each client know the trip charge amount. In addition, we ask our clients how they intend to pay the fee. If there are additional repairs, we notify the client and get their approval before continuing with any repairs. We want all of our clients to be happy. With this in mind, we will disregard this bill even though we did what we were asked to do, diagnose the problem.
