After visiting this furniture making business in Snow Hill, NC. and reading many online reviews, we paid a deposit of $830.12 (10/20/15) for a table that was to be ready within 4 - 8 weeks. When we heard nothing, we sent several emails and made phone calls and got no response at all. Finally, on 12/22/15, I sent an email threatening to take action and finally got a response. Promises were made and not kept and finally I was sent a very dark photo of a table they had made, but after asking them to take a photo of the table in the sunlight, we found that it did not look like the sample table they had shown us. The workmanship was poor (all four legs were different and not turned the same as the sample) and the finish was nothing like the quality of the sample. [redacted] (one of the owners) finally (Jan 20, 2016) admitted that they could not make the table as shown and that he would refund our deposit from 10/20/15. Again, all we get are excuses. His latest excuse is that he forgot to send it and now promises it for Monday. We have little faith in that. We also won't be surprised if his check is returned by our bank. One call from Revdex.com may be what is needed to get our money back. The business failed to deliver a product and then did not refund the deposit despite the promise to do so. I ordered a custom made table from them and was promised delivery within 6 - 8 weeks. I placed a 50% deposit on the order. The website does state that the refund is not refundable, but in a email from her (which I have) she states that is only to "keep out the riff-Raff" and they will happily refund my money if it does not work out. They did not deliver the product as they were too busy with a another large order they were working on. They were very slow in answering my emails and were not able to keep appointments we made. When I canceled the order, [redacted] told me she would process the refund, but never did. I also have this email. I don't understand why they would attempt to keep my money after they could not deliver the product in the specified time and she promised to make a refund. You should be held accountable to your word.Desired SettlementI just want my deposit back as I was promised. Business Response When we received this complaint we immediately reached out to the customer because we were under the impression that they had already received their refund. The customer had initiated a dispute via their credit card company and the funds had been removed from our account. However, the company that processes our credit card payments challenged the dispute without our knowledge or consent. Due to the fact that the card processor challenged the dispute the customer's bank removed the funds from their account. We reached out to the card processor to get them to withdraw their challenge but apparently they cannot do that. The card processor did provide some information that might assist the customer in expediting the recovery of their funds and I have passed that information along to the customer.
