Carolina Finance Reviews (2)

Carolina Finance did not run a [redacted] on the vehicle they financed for me and I discovered this car is a total loss vehicle.I purchased a vehicle as of Aug. 2014 that was financed by Carolina Finance. I recently as of 3/6/2015 tried to complete a trade-in with another dealership and was advised that my car was a total lost vehicle that should have never been financed.I called Carolina Finance and spoke to [redacted] and informed her of this information and she states that can't be because we run a [redacted] on all cars. She viewed my file and came back to the phone to advise me that a [redacted] was not ran before they financed my car. I asked her why did they not check the property before they financed it and she advised me that it is not their responsibility. She than became very rude and started yelling at me. I told her I will not continue paying for a vehicle that has no value and she advised they will take the car if I don't and I advised that was fine with me since the car doesn't hold any value. She than placed [redacted] on the phone who proceeded to advise me of the same thing and than I had to inform he that they have financed a total loss vehicle which is illegal do in South Carolina. Than he asked me to send him the [redacted] I was given. I faxed the information over on 3/6/2015. I called back at 1:00pm that same day and spoke to [redacted] which he confirmed that he can clearly see the information states the car is a total loss vehicle and his company does not finance total losses, salvage, or rebuilt cars. He asked me to give him until Monday 3/9/2015 to speak with the dealer [redacted]. I called him back on Monday and [redacted] had no answer for me and just kept saying they need a detailed copy of the [redacted] and the dealership has not pulled one as of yet. He also kept repeating his self as if he was advising me to pay $35 to get one to provide for them. I asked him why can't they pull a full detail [redacted] and he than told me only the dealer could. I told him that I could not allow this to go on with contacting someone for more assistance and ended the call.Desired SettlementI want a refund for all payments of $324 which I have paid for 7 months. I also would like each fee returned as well. I paid a $5 fee for every payment I made online or by phone which was all payments.I also had to pay late fees of $16.25. I would also like for this loan to be placed on my credit as paid in full so my credit score will not go down.Business Response It is not generally the policy, or a requirement, of Carolina Finance to pull a [redacted] on automobiles we finance. It is the primary responsibility of the buyer to request a report ([redacted], [redacted], etc.) from the dealer. The fact that there was a clean title (not a salvage title) issued by the State of SC would indicate to us that the vehicle was NOT deemed a total loss. In fact, a subsequent pull of the [redacted] report indicates that while there was damage, it was not considered to be more than 25% of the value of the car (the threshold for determining a total loss). We value our customers and have been in contact with Ms. [redacted] since she filed this complaint and are working with her to find a resolution with the dealer, with whom her issue ultimately lies.

I purchased a car threw this company almost 5years ago and in my contrct it says I must have full coverage insurance on my car and I have that my insurance have been the same all 5 years and now this company is telling that the policy has to be in my name this is not in my contract or on any papers that they have sent me my insurance company sent them proof of isurance and the carolina finance is the lean holder on my car somi don't think its fair that they trybto make pay for their insurance or take my car they waint until my car is almost paid for to come up with this please tell me if this is fairProduct_Or_Service: [redacted]Account_Number: [redacted]Desired Settlementallow me to continue with my insurance the same way I have always had since I have been doing busines with this companyBusiness Response Regrettably, the customer has forgotten that when she signed the contract to purchase this vehicle, she also signed an agreement to provide insurance in her own name, which, she has done periodically during the loan term. At other times Carolina Finance had to force-place insurance on the vehicle because the customers insurance had lapsed. The situation that she is in now where the vehicle is insured under the policy of a third-party who is not on the contract or title is not allowed by the terms of the contract and the agreements signed at the origination of the loan. We have forwarded the customer a copy of those signed agreements in hopes that it will help clarify the terms of the loan as she agreed to them upon origination.
