The company applied a weatherproof coating to my home in 2006. Since that time they have had to return several times to make repairs.Carolina Home Improvement Center applied CHIC coating to our home in 2006. It was guaranteed to stop wood rot and to protect the exterior of our home for a lifetime. During the first part of 2014, I noticed numerous cracks in the coating that would allow water to seep into the logs of the house. I contacted Mr. [redacted] owner of the business to inform him of the problem. In July of 2014 he came to my home and accessed the situation. His claim was that the problem was a failure of the substrate, i.e. the logs. He proceeded to make repairs anyway. He scraped off the areas that were cracking and filled the cracks with a special filler and left it that way to allow for thorough drying. In the interim, it rained and some of the material dissolved and ran down the walls. Upon his return the following week he mentioned as much and proceeded to apply the exterior coating anyway. The job was poorly done and he left all of the removed material in my yard. The coating around the repaired areas is now starting to peel in certain places. During the course of the repairs Mr. [redacted] informed me that the manufacturer of the coating would no longer warrant the coating for future use on log homes due to the very problem that is occurring on my home. I am very displeased with the repair work and the fact that a lot of the cracks were not repaired at all. iDesired SettlementI want the company to come to my home and go over it with a fine toothed comb and properly repair every crack or other fault that the find. I also want this done in a very timely manner and not months from now.Business Response /[redacted]/Mr. [redacted] did not understand that the warranty does not cover the cracking of the substrate. It only covers the product itself. The CHIC product does not cause nor does it prevent the substrate from cracking. In spite of that fact I have fixed the cracks of his substrate on numerous occasions and have done it free of charge. His complaint resulted from his frustration that the cracks keep coming backnot because we have failed to serve him..Final Consumer Response /[redacted]/Consumer states business called and resolved the issues.
