Review: I recently purchased a home in Long Beach, NY. One day after getting out of the shower, I hear lawn mowers and trimmers. I was on my way out to a meeting. I asked the guys landscaping if this service was prepaid by the prior [redacted]. The men did not speak English and told me to talk to a guy in the back. So I went to speak to him and asked him if it was prepaid because I am the new [redacted] and did not sign on for landscaping services with his firm. He said I have to contact the [redacted] of Carolina Landscape and continued landscaping. I reached out to the former [redacted] of the home and she said she had CANCELLED services July * (and I moved in July *) so neither of us would be responsible for the bill. To be sure I sent an email to [redacted] of the company indicating such. I didn't receive any response to my email. Instead, two weeks later I get an invoice saying I owe $80 for the services I never hired them to do! I emailed the [redacted] again, and was told that the landscaping guys knocked on my door and asked me if they should do the trimming and that I said "yes"! This is an outright lie. Furthermore, the [redacted] told me that if I didn't pay the bill, it would go to collections. This company is essentially trying to strong arm me into paying for services that I never requested. If a stranger were to come and mowe your lawn without asking you, and then expect payment, would you pay it?Desired Settlement: I want Carolina Landscape to cancel the invoice they've sent me for services I never engaged them to perform. It goes without saying that said invoice should not be sent to collections.
