Carolina Shutter & Blinds

I would not recommend this vendor.

Sales process was easy- *** is very helpful. I ordered two roll shades for doors and three plantation shutters ($2,000 but $1,600 after a discount).

When installed, they did not bring the additional piece to hook in the door shades (which I paid extra for). I was also disappointed with the color of the plantation shutters. *** came back out and explained that they only offer bright white and an option with a gray undertone. I have *** Dove white, which does not match the shutters. She offered to switch the bright white for the grey undertone, but the white was a better match. Shame on me, I should have asked to see a sample but since I have such a popular color, I did not question their ability to match it.

After not hearing from Carolina Shutters for a few weeks, I called to follow up to schedule the rest of the installation (bottom of roller shades). I also let them know that there were chips on the shutters and they indicated they would fix them at the second installation.

When the installers came, they installed the hooks for the roller shades. They were not aware of the need to fix the chips on the shutters but did apply some kind of fix. I was not pleased with the end result- pictures attached. When I discussed with them, their response was that the truck beats the shutters up and they've told the warehouse many times.
I followed up with Carolina Shutters to explain my frustration and ask for a path forward. I spoke with the office manager (***) on the phone, who was not sympathetic and told me the owner would call me on Monday. The owner, ***, did call me on Monday. He offered to fix the nicks with some kind of paint- that may or may not have improved the appearance, as that was supposedly done at the last installation (you can see the drip in one of the pictures). He also told me I should have ordered custom shutters, which would have been $100 more per shutter for the color to match. He was NOT willing to switch out the ones I have and let me pay for the custom shutters. He indicated that his notes showed that I was offered a custom wood shutter but declined, which is not consistent with our conversation or what I was shown during the sales process.

All in all, plantation shutters are something you purchase to keep in your home for many years and there is an expectation that $400-$500/window you will get a quality covering that you will be happy with for several years. I'm ultimately really disappointed with the color and the quality of the shutter- not to mention the lack of customer service.
