Please allow this correspondence to serve as a response to the complaint filed with the Revdex.com by a Mr. [redacted] against Carolina Skiff LLC in regards to a 2011 [redacted] 2400 Offshore vessel he purchased from a Carolina Skiff dealer, [redacted] Company, on...

7/14/11.  Mr. [redacted] claims that he first began experiencing issues with the vessel’s T-Top approximately one year after purchasing the subject vessel.  The dealer who sold Mr. [redacted] his vessel was no longer an authorized [redacted] dealer at this point, and Mr. [redacted] was referred to another authorized dealer.  For some reason unbeknownst to Carolina Skiff LLC, the dealer informed Mr. [redacted] that he “would be responsible for any costs” and that “the warranty paid only a fraction of their labor”.  Carolina Skiff LLC reviews all claims brought to it by its customers.  If a claim is covered by the applicable warranty, Carolina Skiff will honor the warranty as per the terms of the warranty.  One year later, Mr. [redacted] claims that the vessel’s deck actually began to separate from the hull.  Mr. [redacted] took the vessel to [redacted] – the dealer from whom he purchased the vessel that is no longer an authorized Carolina Skiff dealer and is not approved to perform warranty work on behalf of Carolina Skiff.  [redacted] attempted to secure the deck to the hull and Mr. [redacted] paid the expenses incurred for same.  No warranty claim was made at this time to Carolina Skiff LLC.  Subsequently, Mr. [redacted] claims that he used the vessel on the ocean and noticed a large crack in the bow part of the deck on both the starboard and port sides.  Mr. [redacted] took the subject vessel to [redacted] yet again and they had their fiberglass expert inspection the vessel.  According to Mr. [redacted]’s fiberglass expert was of the opinion that there was a manufacturing issue whereby the fiberglass in certain points was too thin and that even if repaired the hull would continue to crack unless the deck was removed and the hull properly repaired. Mr. [redacted] was then put in touch with [redacted], an authorized Carolina Skiff dealer in Norfolk, Virginia.  Mr. [redacted] emailed [redacted] photographs of the crack and the vessel was subsequently brought to [redacted] for inspection by their fiberglass technician.  [redacted] determined the cause of the damage to the hull of Mr. [redacted]’s vessel to be from an object striking the hull – likely a dock, piling, or large unseen object in the water. Impact damage is not covered under warranty. Carolina Skiff LLC stands behind its product and will address any items covered under warranty.  Carolina Skiff LLC is fully prepared to review and investigate any additional information Mr. [redacted] can bring forward to Carolina Skiff LLC to consider.  Carolina Skiff LLC has yet to receive any documentation from [redacted] to support their expert’s determination regarding the cause to damage to Mr. [redacted]’s vessel, nor any evidence of the work performed by [redacted].  Carolina Skiff LLC would be happy to consider further evidence of Mr. [redacted]’s claim, but as it stands right now, it appears that the hull damage to Mr. [redacted]’s vessel was a result of impact damage not covered under warranty.   Thank you,   [redacted] Warranty Department ###-###-#### ###-###-#### EXT. 263 ###-###-#### Fax
