The collection notice is addressed to [redacted] which is not my last name but it was sent to my address. I have had no communication with carolina tanning spa since I used the [redacted] deal.Desired SettlementAccount deletion, collections action needs to be ceased.Business Response Customer did have an account with us however it was under a different name. Account has been removed.

Canelled Tanning package over 1 year ago and was recently sent an E-mail over a year later stating that I owed for tanning sessions. FraudI was a regular member with this company. I was asked to buy a package sometime in 2012. I was told if I ever wanted to cancel the package that I would just turn in a sign form which I did. Then of course I did not get charged on my debit for services as I shouldnt since I cancelled. I would occassionly go in and was told by the person working the counter to just go ahead and they would look me up and never charge me. I had a great relationship with the worker so I thought this was nice of him. He never once asked me for payment or ever said over the year I owed money and neither did anyone working the counter for over a year. Then I went to tan about 4 months ago in 2013 and was asked for my card to keep on file. I said okay but I don't have a package. She said we just need it. She never said I owed money or anything else. So I gave it to her. Then I look on my account days later and noticed she pulled 125.00 out of my account. I called and she said I owed it and was very rude. Then a week later I got an e-mail from the manager stating that I owed for back services. I said I did not have a package and that the only plan I had was cancelled. He said we had computer problems for over a year and did not know and since you have no proof of cancelling your membership we are going to charge you. he asked me if I saved a copy. I said no, you gave me the form to sign in the tanning salon and I assumed you cancelled as I requested because I was never charged after the month I cancelled. He said, well I dont have proof and since we had computer problems you are going to have to pay for the past year. I was livid and told him that I wold not pay for something I cancelled and that I wanted my 125.00 back they took without me authorizing. He said he started bullying me with threats via my e-mail and said if I didn't pay him then he would send my account to collections and ruin my credit. Well, I just got a report for my credit and noticed that he did send it to collections and it is affecting my credit score. This is fraud and I won't stand for it. He was terrible to me via e-mail and this type of business practice is terrible. I want it taken out of his collection agency and I want it off my credit report. I will not stop until this is resolved. This is fraud in the worst way. I intend to take this to the local television station that defends local citizens against this type of fraud. I just sent the information to my local congressman and they are also investigating. Desired SettlementI would like my name removed from the collection agency [redacted] & [redacted] and I would like it taken off my credit report asap. I also want my $125.00 back that was not authorized. His new office manager never asked me and this is stealing and fraud. Thank you for your help![redacted]Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted]Contact Phone: [redacted]Contact Email: [redacted]See responses in Red below:Canelled Tanning package over 1 year ago and was recently sent an E-mail over a year later stating that I owed for tanning sessions. Customer signed a up with us on 12/31/11 and chose the Elite Spa account at $50 per month plus tax Her monthly bill was $55 per month. FraudI was a regular member with this company. I was asked to buy a package sometime in 2012. Customer was not asked to buy anything. She chose to sign up on a membership agreement for $55 a month on a month to month package. I was told if I ever wanted to cancel the package that I would just turn in a sign form which I did. I am not following what a "sign form" is. Can you please clairy what you are referring to? If you are talking about a cancellation request we never received that from you. Then of course I did not get charged on my debit for services as I shouldnt since I cancelled. Customer did stop getting billed for services on 6/1/12, however it was due to a billing issue on our side and not due to any cancellation request from the customer. And honestly if she really thought she cancelled then why did she come back and tan over 81 times during 16 months "Knowing full well that she was not billed for services over that 16 month time frame?" I would occassionly go in and was told by the person working the counter to just go ahead and they would look me up and never charge me. This is simply not true. I had a great relationship with the worker so I thought this was nice of him. He never once asked me for payment or ever said over the year I (Not 12 months but 16 months) owed money and neither did anyone working the counter for over a year. Then I went to tan about 4 months ago in 2013 and was asked for my card to keep on file. I said okay but I don't have a package. She said we just need it. I called and she said I owed it and was very rude. Then a week later I got an e-mail from the manager stating that I owed for back services. True. You have to pay for services rendered even if it's aftr the fact. I said I did not have a package and that the only plan I had was cancelled. He said we had computer problems for over a year and did not know and since you have no proof of cancelling your membership we are going to charge you. he asked me if I saved a copy. Customer claims many reasons why she was getting FREE services. First she cancelled, then she was good friends with someone named [redacted] (that never worked at the salon), then it was because her friend tanned their and she thought she was getting free services because of a referral. . Fi I said no, you gave me the form to sign in the tanning salon and I assumed you cancelled as I requested because I was never charged after the month I cancelled. The fraud is by the customer for not paying for services rendered. This is a very simple issue. The customer's account stopped being billed in June 2012 due to a computer error. The customer kept tanning for 16 months even though she knew she was not being billed for services. There was no request to cancel as the customer stated and we do have a printer on site for making copies. She continued to tan and never said a word to us about why she wasn't being billed for 16 months of services totaling $880 in membership fee's using (26 High Pressure Sessions & 55 Elite sessions) that she did not pay for. If she continues to claims that she was cancelled and did not have a membership plan then she can pay for the session at the session prices which total $$1,863.40 not including tax. She will need to pay for services used. Customer was advised that if she did not pay for services used she would be sent to our collection company. The collection company notified her and she had 30 days to pay the debt or dispute the fee's with the collections company and neither was done. Final Consumer Response This is inaccurate and a lie.. I did cancel this membership and I should have made a copy but I assumed it was a legitamite business and I could trust them. I did tan a few times and was told by his employee [redacted] that I was a long time member and just go ahead. In fact I had to sign in every time I went and each person there said the same thing and I assumed he told them. This is the fault of his employees not me. If he wants to charge someone charge them. This is fraud and If his computer system was broken for over a year I wonder how many other people he is ripping off and. Accusing them of the same thing. I never once talked with a collections person and never got an email or letter in the mail or I would have fought this even harder. I will not be bullied or harassed by him. I notified everyone I know that goes there and they are aware of his practices and will be moving their memberships somewhere else. I will take this as far as I have to in order to clear my name and my credit. This is stealing and fraud. I will see that this doesn't happen to anyone else. Thank you,Bullied by shady business practices. Final Business Response Again there is a simple resolution to this situation and that is "Pay for services that you used". No where in the world can you use something for free. The customer states that "she did use a few services" and that some person named [redacted] let her do it for free. We have never had an employee named [redacted] work for us and she used more than a few services. Apparently she does not realize that she used 81 sessions over a 16 month period or about 5 sessions per month for 16 months. This customer keeps changing her story about what happened. First she told my manager that she had paid for services, then she said that she got free services because of a referral then she said she cancelled. We have a very good record on Revdex.com and other sites. This customer stole from us and now had been caught. What did she think was going to happen when we figured it out and how long did she think she could keep stealing from us? We are considering filing a civil complaint against this customer if she does not pay for services. We look forward to providing her name and all information about this customer including all her emails to anyone including the press. More info received from the consumer 2013-12-27This is a lie and everything he is saying is as well. I am not certain of the guys name but I always thought it was [redacted]. They are bullying me and this is not right. I stole nothing from them. This is fraud and I can't believe how much the owner is lying to cover up for his fraud rather than take responsibility. Please help me make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else. I know and can prove what I am saying is the truth. He is stealing from me and he thinks because I a consumer he can do this and bully me. He is embarrassed his company lied and his own employees did things and expects me to take on their mistakes. This is fraud. I already contacted my state Attorneys office as well. Thank for your help!

billed for services not rendered. Now, trying to collect unreasonable amount of collection fees.I stopped my contract with Carolina Tanning when they closed the location listed. Apparently, they believe that I still owed them for one month (which was a little over $14). They never contacted me via phone or mail.Next thing I heard was from a collection agency trying to collect over $160 from me. I have offered to pay the $14 (even though I never used the service during that month), but they insist on trying to apply an outrageous amount of late fees/penalties.Desired SettlementI will pay the $14 for the one month they claim I owe. I think this is a reasonable compromise.I am very concerned that this is some sort of scam to get ex-customers to pay outrageous amounts of money.Business Response We do not have a customer by the name of [redacted]. Please provide more information.Final Consumer Response When I was going to the tanning salon my name was [redacted]. It will be listed under that name. [redacted].Final Business Response This customer signed up with us on 3/5/2013 for a monthly membership paying $14/month. Per her signed membership agreement, all cancellations require a 30 day notice. She notified us via email on 9/19 that she wanted to cancel. I replied to her on 9/22 that she had the option to freeze her membership, if that was a better option. She replied via email on 9/27 that she still wanted to cancel. I replied to her that same day and let her know she would have a final payment due on Oct 1st; however, she would still have access to the facilities until Oct 31st. Her payment did not go thru on Oct 1st as was required. We did attempt on several occasions to get in touch with this customer with no response. She finally did reply on January 5th, 2014 at which time we offered to waive half the balance due. We never received payment and consequently, her account was referred for collections. This customer's contract does state that if the account becomes delinquent, we do have the right to refer the customer to collections and collect any costs associated with that. This is by no means a "scam" when the agreement is clearly spelled out and this customer signed it. I will be happy to provide our phone records showing each attempt we made to reach her via phone. I can also provide each email that was sent to her as well as a copy of her signed membership agreement. Please let me know if this will be necessary. Thank you.

Carolina Tanning billed me for services I did not receive. When I dispute this with my bank Carolina Tanning retaliated and sent me a bill stating I owed $485. Not sure what they are doing but I was not even using the services. Want this removed from my credit. I do not owe them anything.Desired SettlementI would like a refund of the monies they billed me.Business Response Dear Sir or Madam: Please find attached our response to the above referenced customer. Ms. [redacted] signed a membership agreement with us on June 22, 2013. Per her signed, legally binding contract, if she wished to cancel, she must provide a written 30 day notice stating she wished to end the contract. Her agreement also states that memberships cannot be frozen and terminated within the same month and full dues would be collected as final payment. The customer would have access to either facility until the end of the month. Ms. [redacted] emailed us on May 1st to cancel her account. Per her agreement, she would have owed a full month's dues on May 1st and then not been charged thereafter; however, Ms. [redacted] did not make a full payment on May 1st and was charged her full dues finally on May 23rd. Further, she did use the services on two different occasions in the month of May. Ms. [redacted] signed, agreeing to all terms and conditions of the membership. Both facilities were available during the entire month of May to Ms. [redacted] and it was up to her to make sure she used the services. I am more than happy to provide copies of all documentation regarding her membership and her cancellation request. Because Ms. [redacted] disputed the charges on her account, the membership did remain active and she does owe the amount in question. Thank you. Consumer Response I did email a cancellation to Carolina Tanning to end services one month per agreement and did dispute this matter with my bank and won. Even though I have in writing that the owner [redacted] stated that if I dispute this matter I would not win just like before and would owe an additional $25 late fee. I feel that out of retaliation Carolina Tanning is now billing me for a total of $585. There was no binding contract, I was on a month to month and cancelled per agreement. I wish not to have an outstanding balance that I do not owe on my credit. It seems this is a normal practice for Carolina Tanning because I am not the first to complain about the same issues. I will not be paying for services I did not use nor did I want. Final Business Response We did receive Ms. [redacted]' request to cancel. She still would have owed a full month's dues as all cancellations require a 30 day notice and memberships cannot be frozen and cancelled within the same month. This is clearly stated on her signed membership agreement. And yes, all payments that are received late result in a $25 late fee. This is also stated on her agreement as is the segment stating that we reserve the right to use a collection company for any outstanding balances owed and that the customer is responsible for all fees associated with that. Ms. [redacted] did in fact use the facility in May and had unlimited access to both locations. It is up to the customer to ensure that they use the services, not management's. In an effort to resolve this matter, I will accept the amount of $292.50, which is one half of what Ms. [redacted] has outstanding at this time. If not received by Aug 31st, 2014, the entire amount will remain due. Again, I am more than happy to provide documentation for when she did use services in May, a copy of her membership agreement, and the chargeback information showing where she disputed her charges. Thank you.Consumer Response Worst Company Ever. Couple that owns is only concerned about money not customer service.
