Carolina Water Service, Inc. of North Carolina Reviews (2)

On april 6 a call says we need to boil water that it is unsafe to drink. Called customer service. Very rude and said have no idea when it would be fixbad water. Doing nothing to fix it. When called to ask if they are working on it and when we could expect a fix they told me maybe a week. They said they have no idea. Very rude representative. Asked if we would get credit on bill they laughed and said "yeah right"Desired Settlement100 dollars to cover the cost do go buy 5 gallon bottles of water to use for 4 people and a dog for 5 days

Questionable collection practicesDear Sirs,I recently received a Notice from Carolina Water (CWS) about the [redacted] increase. It has gone from $11.00 to $29.69 per month. In addition, Carolina Water has also decided to charge a duplicate charge of $29.69. They (CWS) claim they are allowed by law to pass on the costs associated with this collection charge. This law may allow them to do just that. However, I do not believe this was ever the intent of this legal system for charging paying customers a fee unless the Company was being charged this fee.I certainly understand passing the costs on to customers. What I do not understand is how such a charge like this is considered lawful? We are being charged this cost by [redacted]. and it is posted on the bill from CWS. Then CWS charges us for their collection of which they claim they pass onto and report to [redacted]. and charge us for an additional collection charge. This is a total of $59.38 just for collection of waste of which a confirmation of any amount can be confirmed by the Company?I cannot tell you how mad I am. This is absolutely ridiculous how a Company in America with regulations can get away with business practices such as these? To add insult to injury, we are also charged $.073 for safe drinking water of which our entire neighborhood in [redacted] is unable to drink for numerous recorded problems over the past 6-7 years. This water is not drinkable.I am very concerned how these increases can be approved and then CWS is allowed to not only pass on the cost but charge their paying customers the same fee. This is a collection conducted by [redacted]unty and the paying customer pays the fee. CWS then adds a duplicate fee onto the invoice and calls is wastewater collection. This practice needs to be reviewed by the Office of Regulatory and senior manager within CWS really need to take a hard look at best practices and determine if this is how they really feel about treating customers that are locked in with using them and do not have a choice.I can assure you that if I had a choice I would not use a Company that follows these shady practices...Respectfully,Desired Settlement1. The ability to have a choice of a water company provider. or 2. the removal of a double charge of the 29.69 per month.Business Response The notice that the Consumer received concerning an increase by [redacted] Treatment is regulated by [redacted]. The fee is for the Transportation and the Treatment of the wastewater from Carolina Water Service, Inc. of[redacted] Carolina (CWS) customers that live in the Consumer's subdivision. The fee was increased by [redacted] on 9/1/14 to its customer, CWS for the transport and the treatment of the wastewater from CWS customers. The approved increase by [redacted] to CWS was at 2/3 of their full residential charge. [redacted]'s full residential charge is $44.54 per month. Therefore, the residential rate, $29.69 that is charged by [redacted] for transportation and treatment of CWS customers' wastewater, is $29.69 and appears on CWS Customers' bills as [redacted] Wastewater Treatment. The charge for $29.69 that appears on the Consumer's bill as Wastewater Collection is not a duplicate charge for the same service that [redacted] provides. The Wastewater Collection fee is an approved fee by[redacted] for the collection of the wastewater. CWS is regulated by[redacted].
