Sunday Feb 28th, I went to Urgent Care due to a UTI. I knew this was my issue because I had it previously a few years previously. I simply wanted to be prescribed some antibiotics. I asked the desk girl how much will this cost, she said probably 85.00 plus the test costs. OK I can handle that.
After an hour of waiting I finally spoke with a nurse practitioner. She took a urine test as expected. She asked if I had any sexual diseases, I told her no. I'm married and my wife and are faithful for many years. I showed her my previous bottle for antibiotics for UTI. I did get my prescription. After a few days my condition worsened considerably. I went to another doctor on that Wednesday and discovered I was on the wrong prescription. I never realized a UTI could get so bad, I was urinating about every 30 minutes, round the clock, and when I did it felt like a knife was sticking me. I was literally crying. I also started running a low grade fewer and my kidney started hurting so I think the infection spread to my kidneys. Fortunately after I so my new proper prescription I started slowly improving, then I got my bill from Carolina East.
Here's the kicker, for ultimately not being helped, for waiting in a room alone for almost 2 hours, for talking to a nurse practitioner for 10 minutes, my bill from the Carolina East was $555.45, that's after my discount for being self pay. It was actually $925.75. Yeah you read right. I complained to Carolina East but was told, hey sorry that's what it costs. I was charged $447.00 for simply sitting in the room waiting for the nurse. They did a STD test in spite of me telling that I was 100% sure that's not what the issue was. It's all a big HUGE rip off.
It's a crazy world we live in and this is simply why our medical system is so screwed up. I was told even if I went in for a simple sore throat, it would most likely cost this much, depending on the tests. Please think twice before going to Urgent Care and be prepared to pay dearly!","neg-1

my pass due bill $25 was sent to a collection without notification. account number # XXXXXXXX I received a collection notice in the mail for a delinquent co pay of 25 dollars. The collection was initiated by carolina east medical center. the co- pay was from a early june operation. When I called the billing department the lady said the post office returned the notices as undeliverable address. When the billing department review my address and phone number they were correct. My complaint is that the carolina medical center put no effort into notifying me. they had my address, phone number, primary care providers name and number, and insurance company information. Desired Settlementnone, I want them to know their costumer service is horrible. Their decision to turn my personal information over to a collection agency without due diligence is under handed and inconsiderate. A simple phone call could have resolved this $25 bill in a matter of seconds. Business Response I have contacted Mr. [redacted] and will be responding to his concerns directly with him.
