We would like to apologize for any confusion or misunderstanding of the situation between our business and the customer. This vehicle was towed to our shop where the customer provided us with a list of issues that needed to be addressed. An estimate of around $900 for the items on the list was...

provided to the customer along with the assurance that if we found any further repairs that the vehicle needed we would contact him with prices of those additional repairs so that he could give us his permission before we proceeded. During the time the vehicle was here, contact was made with the customer a few times where he was provided with an update on the status of repairs, he provided further approval for us to continue, and during one conversation he mentioned a few extra things that he would like us to look at that were not on the original list he had provided. When we determined a rat had created a nest under the intake of this engine we further investigated any damages the rat could have caused. We found multiple issues that were necessary to get the vehicle back to appropriate operation. The customer was contacted via phone and informed of the extra costs this was going to require. However, he was not given an exact amount for the extra repairs and did not request an exact amount but he did agree for us to continue working on the car. Several of these repairs required minimal labor to complete because we were already working in close proximity to that repair. Despite our labor guide suggesting higher labor costs, in some cases more than double what we were charging him, we charged additional labor only on actual time spent in order to keep the cost down for the customers benefit. When the customer arrived during repairs and requested to prepay $1400 towards his upcoming bill, we convinced him to pay less in order to avoid him overpaying on anything since we were unsure what the final bill would total up to be. He then agreed to pay $1200 and told us not to worry about the few extra things he added to his list amidst repairs and to only finish what we started to get the vehicle operational. We did as requested. At this time the exact total for all repairs was indefinite and such was not requested by the customer. When repairs were completed, the vehicle was back to proper working order, and total bill figured the customer was informed his car was ready. The customer arrived to retrieve his car and could not afford to pay the remaining amount of his due bill which is $544.95. The customer was unhappy with this amount but said he would return for the vehicle when he could afford to pay the bill. In consideration to his financial state, we have decided not to charge him storage fees while the car sits here waiting to be picked up despite our very strict rule on such situations. We only repaired what was necessary. We hope this assists in resolving this issue. No amount can be deducted from the remaining bill as we have already deducted five hours labor (a loss of $300) on this ticket and are also not enforcing storage fees (a loss of $150). Sincerely,[redacted]Precision Automotive
