My apartment unit has been without air since 05/09/14. I was unaware that maintenance would come and repair the AC unit on the weekends because it is considered an emergency circumstance so I called on 05/12/14 at 7:30am and filed an work order for the AC unit to be fixed. I arrived home at 4:30pm and discovered my apartment was 88 degrees and still without air. Maintenance arrived and could not fix the issue. Maintenance brought a portable AC unit to cool down my bedroom and advised they would be back 05/13/14 to fix the issue. The rest of the unit was still hot, muggy and very uncomfortable. On 05/13/14 at 5:00pm I arrived home and discovered yet again that my AC unit was not fixed. I called the leasing office and spoke with the supervisor of maintenance,[redacted]. He advised that he was not able to go to the apartment and work on the AC unit because 2 other maintenance employees called in and was short staffed. Not only was I not notified that I would still be without air, I was also told by the leasing office managers,[redacted] and[redacted], that I could not be accommodated any further. I asked if there was another portable unit that could brought to my apartment being that I am in one of the larger 1 bedroom units. I was told by management that there were no extra portable units. I asked if my rent could be adjusted due to the inconvenience and I was told by management "absolutely not". I am a tenant, pay my rent early each month and have never had an issue with the apartment complex until now. I must say that I was startled by that response and very much disappointed.Desired SettlementI am requesting $350 to be taken off next months rent. I think this is reasonable because of the inconvenience that I have endured. While we were not able to fix your unit the same day your maintenance issue was called in, we did provide you with a portable 2-ton unit which is appropriately sized for your one bedroom apartment. Unfortunately, if the unit is not left on during the day, it is extremely hard for it to cool to a comfortable temperature in just a short time. Due to the nature of the problem (electrical/wiring issue) the work could not be performed due to the rain. Thankfully, the following days the temperatures were not above 66 degrees with the low being in the 40's and an A/C would not have been necessary. The unit was promptly fixed on Friday which was the first day without rain. It is our policy to repond to maintenance requests within 24 hours, which we fulfilled. Once again, we are extremely sorry for this inconvenience and hope that you will enjoy your home here at The [redacted].
