I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.They only resolution that I wanted was my money back for a rejection that was not warranted, [redacted] said that himself the day I was there. He said those things needed fixed but not right away but rejected in hopes that we would fix it there.  After talking to my husband in more detail he told him different items to fix than what he told me and makes different too on our inspection notice.  Basically trying to get whatever money out of us that they could. I have thought that one other time when doing business with them.  Now I know the real truth about how they work, they want to find things for you get "need" fixed and reject your car in hoodies that you will fix it. He told me that himself. I have lived in the city of that business all my life and have done business with them for several decades and so do my parents and in laws, I have even suggested the to friends which I will not longer do. I will also openly tell my story of what happened with the "needed repairs" that it got inspected and looked at by 3 other places that did not see the same problem.  And that I passed inspection within the hour of getting treated poorly at [redacted] Carr. I also feel like because I am young and a female that this also happened. I will not hesitate Ito spread the word oof poor work and judgement that is being made by this business.

Review: Took our truck down to be inspected....[redacted] Carr rejected it based in a suspension issue, they took my husband around into the bay and showed him ball bearing 3/4 that needed to be replaced. Over the weekend we had a friend who does car work for us to look at the ball bearing.....had already ordered and paid for them. He stated they did not look or feel like they needed to be replaced. He looked a second time the next day just to be sure, went on to say that the entire suspension looked fine. Monday took it back down to [redacted] Carr to speak with the owner son [redacted] who we have dealt with for a decade. He onepce again pulled it tin to the bay and showed me something about the tires what showed the suspension needed to be worked on before he could pass it. I expressed that he last few times we have brought any of our 4 cars down to be inspected that a big ticket item was found, we have taken them right away to other places and they passed without incident. He said well this does need to be take care if but not right away, that it could wait. I asked them why did you reflection it for Incpections,.... His response was so that I would get it fixed, I had him repeat it once more that he rejected my car for something that didn't need to be fixed right away and that wasn't that big of a deal but he wants to fix it and not pass it. He said yes, that how we get business. The estimate was for $8000.00, but all he got from me was my $16.00 to reject my truck. I took it to 3 other places to get an opinion in my suspension and no one else had the same suggestion as him, nor did my friend that fixes things for us, I had it passed within the hour of being at [redacted] Carrr with another place. I have felt as though [redacted] Carr did that to me before being a young women and when my husband or my dada went down they were treated differently. I asked to make it right and give my $16.00 back but they said no, so I informed them that I would be taking my business elsewhere from now on and would give my opinion of their astonishment when asked.Desired Settlement: I had to pay another $16.00 to get a proper inspection from someone who didn't want me to pay $8.000.00 for a nonexistent problem that according to them could have waited be they rejected it anyway. So I just want my $16.00 back to make it right and they will never be bothered by me or ahve my business again.

The rejection in question was valid. According to the specifications set forth by the manufacturer, there can not be more than .50mm of movement in the upper or lower ball joints. By Virginia state law any movement in a ball joint exceeding manufacturer specifications for maximum allowable movement has to be repaired before it can be passed for Virginia State Inspection. Documentation of this can be found in any of the State Inspection Manuals or the sign that is hanging in the shop.The movement in the ball joints of the vehicle in question well exceeded the allowable specifications. We unfortunately do not make the rules regarding inspections, and have no choice but to abide by the regulations we are forced to follow.As for the other mechanics opinion, we would have to assume that he does not hold a Virginia State Inspection License, and has not passed the tests required to hold such licensing. This is most likely the cause for his unawareness of why the vehicle failed inspection.You are by law free to take it to another shop to have another inspection done, there are some that do not follow the regulations. However they are in jeapordy of losing their licensing, and we are not willing to take that risk.We can not refund money for a rejection that was valid because it is a service our technician performed and therefore must get paid for. We also have to pay for the stickers that we use. We apologize for your discontent, but we stand firm in our safety decisions. This is not only for you and your family's well being, but also for the well being of everyone else traveling on the road.We hope you find this information useful. Have a great day.
