Cars of Excellence Reviews (2)

This company advertised the car I bought as running well on [redacted], and it does not start in the morning without a jump.On April 28th 2014, I bought a 1992 [redacted] from Cars of Excellence. The owner initially represented himself as a private owner on [redacted], and said the [redacted] was once his own. The [redacted] add listed all of the parts that work well and the car, but did not mention that there is something wrong with the car at all. Just before I bought the car, the owner ensured that there was nothing wrong with it, other than an old battery that I would have to replace. I replaced the battery the same day and the car continued to run well until May 1st, when it would not start at all. I had to have it jumped to get it to start. It did not start the next morning either(May 2nd). I then made sure the new battery was the right fit and working well. [redacted] ensured that it was and showed proof with their equipment. I also spent time and money to find out whether the radiator was working properly. A report from[redacted] said it was. When I took it back to Cars of Excellence on May 4th for them to fix, they assured that they would investigate problem with their equipment so that it would begin to start without being jumped. The mechanic there said he would have the diagnostic work done on Tuesday (5/6).The mechanic also indicated at that time that another customer was "driving the car" prior to the day I purchased it, and had a similar problem. The mechanic there did not actually look at it until Wednesday (5/7)evening, although I stopped there everyday to check on the progress. He then told me (on 5/7) that he thought it was a parasitic drain and supposedly disconnected something. He was supposed to call me the next morning (5/8) to tell me whether his solution to the problem worked. He never called and when I went there, there was still no solution. The company had plenty of time to at least find the problem with the car, but did not. While I spent hundreds on rental cars, no progress was made toward finding a solution to the problem. On 5/8, I asked the owner to return the money I paid for the car, since it was not working as it was advertised. He said that was not an option, since he sold it "as is". He did offer to have the car inspected at another location to find the problem with the car. Based on my previous experience with this business, I declined, as I doubted that it would happen within a reasonable amount of time or at all. I left with the car that day, as it had been jumped and was drivable. Overall, I feel that this company mispresented the condition of the car as well as themselves on [redacted]. Desired SettlementI am seeking one (1) of the following:-1. A free, timely repair completed by an outside company with mechanics who have definitively found the problem with the car (using appropriate equipment)-2. A car of equal value that has no issues preventing it from running properly, that I can have inspected by an outside mechanic of my choice

I took my truck to Cares of Excellence to get it repaired, but it was not repaired. I asked for a refund but was not refunded. On August 8th, I took my 2008 Dodge Durango to Cars of Excellence so that the mechanic could determine the problem with my truck. Once the mechanic determined the problems, he told me that I needed a front wheel alignment, all four tires balanced, brake rotors turned, and brake pads. He states that the rotors looked good so I would not need to buy new ones, he would just have them sheened and turn them. He gave my a quote of $250 for the repairs. He told me to have my truck at the shop on August 9, 2013, which I did, but he told me that he didn't have time to repair it that day, but he would pick it up from my job on August 13, 2013, which he did. When he picked my truck up, he requested to be paid in advance. When he picked my truck up I told him that I purchased my own brake pads because he had quoted my a higher price than I paid for them. When I told him I had purchased my own brake pads he told me that the price to repair my truck would be $201 instead of $250. Once I got my truck back, which was later than he said he would have it back to me (which was suppose to be by 2:30pm @ the latest because that is the time I told him I would be getting off work.), He agreed that he would be finished with it by then so I would have a way home from work. He was not there, and I ended up sitting at work about 2 hours waiting on him to bring me my truck. I ended up paying someone $20 to give me a ride. After I got my truck back, it was not fixed. I called the mechanic to let him know, but he gave me the run around, and the issue is still not resolved. I am afraid to take my care back to this business, so I have requested a refund, but so far, he is not willing to give me my money back.Desired SettlementI am seeking my entire refund from this settlement plus replacement of my new brake pads. The mechanic told me that the brake pads that was on there already was only worn 20%, so I don't understand why he would put my new pads on the rotors that he now claim is no good, but in the beginning when he inspected the rotors, he told me that they were good to just turn.
