Review: I purchased a car from Car's Unlimited for $1850. Within 2 hours of purchase time; the engine blew. We purchased the car as is-no warranty therefore we get what we paid for. Two different mechanics pointed out to me that their professional opinion is that they would have known about the issue prior to selling. Anyone who works on cars would have seen the signs that it was going to happen. This is speculation and opinion from 2 seperate mechanics. The tow truck driver who picked up the car after the engine blew speculated that it looks as if the problem was masked with new parts to look like it won't blow. We were lied too on numerous occasions by a supposed “legit business” as [redacted] put it on 2 July 2014 when we first reported the issue. We were told they do work on all their cars. When I spoke to [redacted] regarding the issue, he informs me that they just got the car in and they didn't even look at it. Obviously they don’t do work on ALL their cars as said before or they are the ones who possibly masked the problem with the engine in the first place. Again, the tow truck driver said it looks like the engine was covered with new parts to hide the fact that engine was going to blow. When the problem occured, I was told by [redacted] that he would take care of the engine and provide transportation to get the vehicle transported back to their shop. The next day when it officially came out that the engine would need to be replaced. he says that was not the deal and he would only install the engine for us. I would be responsible for buying the engine and towing back to their shop. [redacted] told me what I wanted to hear at the time. I was given the run around all weekend when trying to get in touch with [redacted]. On Monday, 7 July 2014, I called in the morning. Someone picked up the phone, said my name, and hung up the phone. After numerous attempts to call back they tried brushing the situation under the rug by ignoring my phone calls until I called back from a different phone.Desired Settlement: I completely understand that we purchased the car as is-no warranty. As much as I would like to get a full refund; I am only looking for half of what paid ($925). They offer to replace the engine yet the owner told me he would fix the problem completely to include provide towing for the vehicle back to their shop. Even if I don't get half of what I paid back, I want to ensure this does not happen to someone else looking at buying a used car. Since I don't have any legal backing being that car was purchased as-is and most of what happened is verbal; going public is the best route to ensure no one else falls victim. Steps are currently being taken to get Cars-Unlimited black listed for military members on Joint Base [redacted]. If the car is taken back and we are refunded $925 in cash; I will stop taking this course of action.
