I purchased a Tacoma which was alleged to have been completely safety checked, I was not able to test drive on the highway.I purchased a used 2008 Tacoma. During the test drive I was instructed where to drive. After purchasing the vehicle I noticed a severe steering wheel shake most likely caused by warped rotors/drums on the brakes. I took the vehicle back to Carson City Toyota and was told by the service technician that the almost worn out brakes were caused by my driving. I have put approximately 200 miles on the truck and know that the rotors were warped when I got the truck but because of my lack of being allowed to test drive the vehicle I was not aware of the problem before I purchased the vehicle. The rotors are so worn they cannot be turned which indicates the last driver put thousands of miles on them and he caused the warping. I was offered half off of a front brake job but was told the rear drums were slightly warped also. I don't believe this to be a fair offer. I had agreed to splitting the cost of the brake job before hearing the diagnosis but now see that Carson City Toyota is not interested in making the truck safe to drive but only getting me out the door. They are not willing to do a complete brake job and told be the sales manager said "pound sand." They sent out an unsafe truck with warped rotors but believe that it is safe because the pads are not worn out. They have jeopardized my safety and are still unwilling to rectify the problem even after seeing how unsafe it is.Desired SettlementI would like the brakes to be completely replaced including rotors, drums, pads and shoes to make the truck safe to drive.Business Response General Manager [redacted] spoke to customer and will be taking care of brake problem for him this week.
