I will never work with CARTUS again!
I had a client under contract, listed on MLS, and already had 2 showings. Then my client received a job offer out of state and the company he was working for used CARTUS as a relocation service.

Cartus contacted me and wanted me to sign a referral agreement as if they were the ones referring the client to me. They asked me to sign an agreement for 42% of my commission. All of the forms I had completed had to be reacomplished on their forms which doubled my workload.

Once I finished working with one CARTUS POC, they sent me to another one who wanted some of the same forms I had already sent in. Then they sent me to a third POC who wanted some of the forms I had already sent in to the other two POC’s! This was getting ridiculous and irritating to say the least.

After all was said and done and the sale was complete, they made more money off of me that I made in my commission! I’ll never do another relication where CARTUS is involved!

Cartus administers a relocation plan on behalf of this individual’s employerAs detailed in the policy statement he was provided at the outset of his relocation, there is provision for modification to the program without notice and the indication that employees may or may not be entitled to all benefits In this situation, based on documentation pertaining to the employee’s residence provided to us well after the beginning of his relocation, it was determined that there was a potential hindrance to financing the sale of the homeAs a result, while he has been offered an alternate home sale benefit, Cartus does not agree to pursue the home sale program as initially identified for him We are sorry for any difficulties this has caused for him, but believe that the action we have taken is correct

We have reviewed *** *** comments posted at Revdex.com and other placesThe home *** *** was attempting to purchase was located in *** ***a law (ARS 44-101) provides that contracts to sell real estate must be in writing and signed by the party to be charged, contrary to *** ***
statementWe assumed that the *** real estate agent had informed them of this factIn our experience, most buyers in states with laws similar to that in *** are well aware that “there is no deal until there is a signed contract”In order to clarify this point, Cartus’ emails even contain the statement: “If you are a real estate agent or broker or if you are buying/selling a home from/to Cartus, please note that emails are for information or negotiation purposes only; no agreement to buy or sell real estate will be binding on Cartus unless and until Cartus has signed a contract.” Without a writing, Cartus was within its rights to continue to evaluate offersWhile Ms*** complains of a delay by Cartus, time was required to thoroughly review *** ***’s allegations, paperwork and *** lawFrom Cartus’ perspective, the fair thing to do was to give all interested buyers a chance to submit their highest and best offers for the homeWe feel that we have conducted this transaction in an ethical manner and in accordance with *** law and regret that *** *** did not have a positive experience with attempting to purchase a home from Cartus

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because: Even though no law was broken in this business dealing, I was lied to and betrayed by the realtor and Cartus.com and so let it be a record for other home buyers dealing with this company to be aware of a possible unethical situation
Sincerely,
Tonia Rainier

Cartus is a very difficult company to deal with. The majority of receipts are rejected. The only approved receipts are small invoices usually under $50.00 all other receipts are paid only after I protested. I am out of $4000,00 and cartus takes on average 10 days to review a receipt only to reject it delaying the process. I will never deal with this company again. The only positive thing I can say is the coordinator seems to care. But calling after every rejection is a horrible way to do business. Never again!

In this situation, based on documentation pertaining to the employee’s residence provided to us well after the beginning of his relocation, it was determined that there was a potential hindrance to financing the sale of the home. We are sorry for any difficulties this has caused for him, but believe that the action we have taken is correct.

As [redacted] acknowledges, Cartus complied with applicable laws.  We are sorry that she remains disappointed with the outcome.

RUN from this company as fast as you can. I cannot describe this company. They break FEDERAL LAW makinag the buyer use their incompetent Title Company. They made me write three earnest money checks before they were satisfied. At the first closing they tried to close on a house they did not own. I believe this is illegal any way you look at it. We finally closed later in the month. I had to call off my movers costing me several thousand dollars. If I had it all to do again, I would never have anything to do with this company. The sellers left the house in a mess, not even cleaning windows and clearing cabinets or mowing the lawn. Total disaster. Have nothing to do with them. They are not a reputable company and they have no respect for laws or people.

Review: I am a Realtor with [redacted] in [redacted], and I was a buyers' representative for a transaction wherein Cartus was the seller. The property address was [redacted]. The closing occurred on December 18, 2015. My clients were [redacted] and [redacted]. Cartus was well aware of the closing date of the transaction, quite far in advance of the closing. On the day of the closing, the closing was delayed 4.5 hours with no indication of when it would actually occur; thus, the parties were forced to sit around waiting due to the Cartus representative's failure to sign off on settlement paperwork in a timely fashion. There was no reason whatsoever for this delay and the terrible lack of communication in the process. Cartus' agent and Realtor was [redacted] of [redacted] Services, [redacted] was proactive and did her very best to facilitate the closing in the timely manner; she was even calling up the chain of command in Cartus, and was not getting responses as to the reason for the delay and when the closing might proceed. Due to Cartus' delay, my clients, a US army captain and his wife, were forced to delay their pre-planned move in, and had to wait 4.5 hours with a newborn baby and 3 dogs in their car, as we had no idea when the closing might occur. This was extremely distressing for them and caused them financial losses as well as a result of the delayed closing and no indication of when it would occur. Cartus' failure to communicate took a toll on this transaction and inhibited my clients from moving in timely. Everyone involved, including the settlement company ([redacted]. in [redacted]) was astounded as to the sheer lack of concern on Cartus' end of this transaction.Desired Settlement: I would like my clients to receive an apology and/or explanation from Cartus and remuneration for their unreasonably delayed home closing.

All they did was email you a list of vendors to talk with during your move. If you had a claim they would do nothing. They are never there to answer your call and if your on the west coast there done by 3pm. This company is simply a waste of time and money. If you want your stuff broke and not delivered ontime then choose these guys, if you want the job don right tell your HR department to hire someone at 12 bucks an hour to take care of relocating people.

Review: Avoid Cartus!!!!!!!??????

My husband is a veteran and he's being relocated by his company and Cartus is screwing us over! We started the process in mid March and we are no closer to a buyout now than we were then.

We purchased our home in 2005, In 2010 our house appraised for $260,000, and this is before we did any renovations! We completely renovated our large ranch home(almost $150,000 in renovations). According to the contract There were suppose to be two realtors that were Cartus reps to come out and do comps on our home and property and then we were suppose to get a list price from there. One did her paperwork one never turned it in... So 3 weeks later we were able to get our house up for sale but we wer granted a waiver to do that off of one realtors comps.....they said at day 45 the appraisers would come in... It was closer to day 60..... We waited and they were suppose to send in appraisers to appraise our home.. First came the inspector that found 16 descrepiencies so we dropped everything and took care of those in our contracted time period, and spent an abundance of money to do that, how they some were descrepiencies I will never understand... Sent in all documents and we were told that the descrepiency list was satisfied everything was fixed and that we should hear something soon...... The first appraiser came out, did their appraisal and then the second one came out and did his, then one of them claims his system crashed and he lost everything. So now we are put another 2 weeks behind.... So then they send out a third appraiser and we were told by our relocation specialist and her supervisor that it's being done ....... The third appraisal but only second turned in was completed.... Then they gave us a preliminary buyout amount which we are truly crying our eyes out at because it's $110,000 under what the realtor comp had it priced and over$50,000 less than the realtors said the quick sale price should be. Now when we started this process we were not told the purchase was a quick sale buyout we were told it was the appraisal buyout, like a regular bank appraisal, not quick sale. We've had realtors to tell us that the quick sale appraisal would be $60,000 under the comp price which was a punch to the gut but at least it covered what we owed...., no the came in over $110,000 under comp but it gets better..... Since the appraisals that were turned in were so far apart we now have to have a third guy turn in an appraisal and even under a rush status, it's going to take him 10 days to just get to our home and another 7 to 14 days to get his appraisal in. If he comes in under the other appraisals we are screwed. My husband will be living three states away and I will be back I the house until it sells... In the mean time we have lost contracts 3 houses because of contengency clauses and Cartus dragging their feet and then when we put down earnest money, we've lost that because we were told our buyout offer would come mid July, it didn't come til the end and there's no way we can get our ** certificate cleared and use it for our new home here... $3000+ dollars list and no one wants to take a contengency contract for a home purchase. And then we were informed of the negative equity and how we needed to pay for it up front for the buyout to happen. And we were informed that taking the buyout is a personal decision..., and now the best part......our realtor who signed up with Cartus to be our realtor, where we are currently living in a hotel until we can purchase a house,( because we were told by we were only to deal with Cartus realtors to go thru the buyout process) will not show us any homes, our bank will not even consider us for a loan, even with the Cartus buyout letter because the letter means nothing we have to have the HUD1statement before we can proceed.... Except we are going to get screwed because of all the blunders. So now we are faced with living separately and we have triplets, two of which want to go to college but we've only been able to enroll one because of the financial hardship this entire Cartus supposed buyout has caused. He maybe able to complete his first semester if we can meet the payments on the payment plan. (Our other triplet joined the military so he can serve our country but also so we won't be burdened with trying to pay for his college.) I am medically retired due to multiple medical issues, because of all this, it has caused flares and constant issues with my health. Our house had been completely renovated. Inspector came in and found issues or descrepiencies and we had EVERYTHING fixed. Our house comps at $340,000 but they say it's only worth a quick sale of $230,000. That's $110,000 difference. I'm no genius but there's something wrong with that picture! Then they inform us of the difference in their assumption of what it's worth and that we have $$$$$ in negative equity and for them to complete the buyout that we can write them a check or use a credit card to pay off that negative equity amount and then the buyout will be completed. If I had that much money I would pay it in the Morgage and there wouldn't be any negative equity.

Completely AVOID this company if possible! They will rip you off in ways you never knew were possible. I have words for them that aren't appropriate to be used on this site! We are being told it's a person decision whether or not we accept their offer.... More than likely we will be listing with a real realtor to see if we can get our house sold and dropping Cartus because they have turned an already stressful situation into an unbareable one. All I can do is cry from this situation. This was suppose to be a sale that paid for everything we out into our home as far as renovations and all the fixes they found wrong.... But instead they are telling us that we owe them.... [redacted] believable! WTF?

If this is how companies take care of their employees when they relocate, then your company isn't taking care of you! I don't know how often companies review complaints and review and renew their contracts with companies like this but if you are considering signing up with this company.... Don't! Do yourselves a favor DON'T otherwise your employees will end up deeper in debt, more stressed and God knows what else!

I've been contacted by the Cartus relocation person assigned to us and her supposed supervisor, they far from impress me, they put our calls thru to answering machines to avoid talking to us and we are completely disgusted. If...., if Cartus wants to contact us, it needs to be someone high enough up that can explain the deception that I'm suspecting that's going on...

Dispice Cartus with a passion and would not recommend it to anyone. If I hear anyone talking about using them, I will definitely tell them of our experience. My husband is working closely with his company rep to see what our other options are because this one is a bad bad bad option! please feel free to contact me and I will give you the name of everyone of your incompetent employees that we've dealing with and I will refer you to my husbands corporate relocation specialist because I'm sure she'd love to hear you explanations about how the math isn't adding up. I truly doubt you'll call or take time to read this.Desired Settlement: We want Cartus to pay us our home value, not quick sale if it appraised for $260,000 and comps at $340,000 then $280,000 is a fair price. And they have defaulted on their contract so many times we like all the $3,000 earnest money we've lost plus inspection fee $570 of the home that we placed on a home that we put a contract on and now have lost because of the extended amount of time it's taking to get to the point of sale, to clear our ** certificate so we can purchase a home where we were relocated to. We also want Cartus to pay for our hotel bill after our corporate relocation allotment runs out, it's because of the defaults and blunders or as they call them 'hiccups' that we are in this situation. This is not a personal situation, it's a situation in which he keeps his job or loses it and we lose our home. Everything we own has been packed and is in storage which 2 months has been taken up out of the 5 months we are allotted. This has been a nightmare that just won't end!

Review: 1. On Nov 21, I have already sent Cartus my disagreement on buyer's request to postpone the closing date to Jan 13 (Please see the attached proof), and I had not heard any disagreement or further notice from Cartus since then. I have checked with Cartus quite a few times, and I was assured that things are moving forward all the time. I would say moving forward for three weeks means my message was delivered and that the buyer already accepted my disagreement and agreed on the original closing date.2. Based on Cartus response, I was actively seeking for my future house and am under agreement now. My new house will close on Jan 29.3. On Dec 12, I heard from my listing agent that the buyer and buyer's attorney were extremely upset about not hearing any response from Cartus attorney for weeks. This is unacceptable! I contacted Cartus immediately and I believe that the Cartus attorneys did not perform appropriately. Cartus did not provide me any reason why Cartus attorneys did not send my response to the buyer's side, so that the buyer can either accept the original closing date or break the contract, or at least honestly notify me in a timely manner. If the buyer break the contract due to Cartus unacceptable delay and no proper notice, Not only that I lose the chance of a sale, and am forfeited a big chunk of money (mortgage, property tax, storage fee etc), but also I have to break the new house buying contract, affecting my employment in [redacted]. 4.On Jan 5, I requested an immediate update of my case status. Cartus again possibly delayed one week on sending out my home inspection response to buyers: My realtor sent Cartus our response on Dec 29, and it has been a week and I hear no update from Cartus.Desired Settlement: Based on the reasons listed above, I request Cartus purchase my house at the original price before Jan 15 without any contingency. Please help on solving this issue. Thank you![redacted]

Dear Ms. **:

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about our administration of the home sale program we manage on behalf of your employer. We appreciate that relocation home sales are somewhat different than other purchase and sale processes and apologize for any discomfort this particular situation is creating for you.

We have reviewed the current status of the sale and are confident that we are taking appropriate steps to move the sale forward, acquire the property from you and fund your equity as promptly as possible. I know that a member of our management team has contacted you directly to review the specific procedures we must follow, detailed the benefits of the Buyer Value Option program and discussed your options if the process cannot be completed as you have requested.

Sincerely,

This company does not care about the people they are relocating they never return phone calls and they don't know how to do accounting for long distance moves this is the worst move out of 20 that I have ever had they try to take money that belong to you by policy and twist it around saying its against their policy I am about to loose my job because of how long it takes for reimbursement of my funds. I now do not have the money to drive myself back to my final destination because of them

Review: Cartus is a large corporate firm that has completely lost sight that they are a service organization. While they have done a nice job of bringing on board great contractors who do the real work, Cartus personnel can't even think about a pleasant Customer Experience. Once they connect you with the real providers, their accountability becomes non-existent.

It took 2 weeks from their acknowledgement that I was their client, before they made a reasonable effort to contact me. They fail to understand that the whole point of their service is to take the pain and work off of me so that I may focus on the reason the company moved me. (of course they were willing to talk to me between the hours of 8 and 5 CST).

Selling the house was painful as they did not have their act together on all the items that needed to be performed. Luckily for me, their "accepted" realtor that I selected was on her game and guided me through. Not seamless, but not bad due to a great realtor...Plug for [redacted] in **.

Once you can decipher their online submittal system, it is great to work with. Trust me, you get no help here at all. The first go around of expense reporting I gave up and emailed copies to my agent. That took forever and of course created lengthy conversations...again taking me away from what I was hired to do. Then of course we have to deal with the wonderful denials and getting more documentation ( and more and more...you get the picture).

Months go by and I reach out to my agent saying I've been swamped and I will get the final report in. She stated that the year is up tomorrow and you have to have it completed, submit receipts or, well...in my mind she said "too bad".

I go from that point to figuring out how to use the system and hours later (and I do mean hours) I was rolling through (thankful for that engineering degree!). So now where we are today (09/30/2015), back and forth on the receipts and finally get told at the beginning of the week that I "should" see the reimbursement in a couple of days. No response so I reach out today and now another laundry list of items needed to get reimbursed. Clearer receipts, a copy of the lease agreement...how many times must I send the same information. Let's just say my patience is gone and I've moved it up to my VP of HR.

I also need to mention their inability to maintain records. They couldn’t keep track which policy they were to follow with me and what my benefits through the company were supposed to be.

With all that said, I do one to praise one aspect of Cartus and that is their Home Loans division. This group is phenomenal and I cannot say enough about them. They are fully engaged in what they do and they take the extra steps to educate you in all the options they have available. If only the rest of the company could be like this!

I'm not a newbie to the moving world and have had 5 large moves in the last 9 years. During this time, I've used 3 different relocation companies (Cartus twice...yay for me...NOT) and once on my own from the West Coast all the way back to the Midwest (** to **). Understand that each of the moves where I utilized a relo company, I was required to use them by the company. The one move I did on my own required less time on my part and less money. The relocation groups are not worth the payment they receive. My recommendation is get some quotes and move yourself. If your company is moving you and offer an option, take the lump sum. I'm sure you have some friends out there that wouldn't mind driving a box truck across the country for a very nice fee!Desired Settlement: Finish the job and provide the company I work for a refund on your mismanaged services. You have not provided the contracted services in a timely and reasonable manner.
