Casa Via Mar Inn and Tennis Club

Review: On June 5th I reserved a room at Casa Via Mar via Expedia.com for June 8th, 2015. I chose the option to pay the hotel directly upon check-in. My confirmation is time stamped at 1:48 PM. I arrived home around 8 PM & printed out my confirmation around 8:35 PM, so I'd have a paper copy with me when I checked into the hotel. I noticed the confirmation states "If a late check-in is planned, contact this hotel directly for their late check-in policy". I called the hotel as I wasn't planning on arriving until 10 or 11 PM on the 8th. I informed the receptionist why I was calling, & she informed me that they did not have my reservation on file, & that if I had just made the reservation, it usually takes 10 to 15 minutes for their system to update. I told her that I had made the reservation hours before, & that I even had a confirmation #. She again responded that they did not have my reservation on file. I asked her if I could book the room over the phone with her since they didn't have my reservation on file. She stated they didn't have the room I booked available, but that they had a room available that was $30.00 more. I said 'Nevermind, I'll book another room somewhere else' as I did not feel I should have had to pay extra for something that wasn't my fault. I booked a room at Bella Capri inn for $4.00 more then the room at Casa Via Mar. I noticed on 6/10/15 that Casa Via Mar charged me for the room. I called the hotel to notify them of the mistake and was informed by the manager that it was my fault, that I should've called expedia when the hotel receptionist told me they didn't have my reservation, and that the room I reserved was shown as booked because I had booked it. I told him that there was no reason to call expedia since I was supposed to be charged upon check-in, which never occurred since I was told by the receptionist I had no reservation with them, and that it wasn't my fault their system showed a room booked, but not by who. I have both confirmations & my call log as evidDesired Settlement: I want an apology from the manager, who was rude and said that the scenario would've been plausible if I had called the 8th! I'm a responsible adult, the confirmation said to call if we were going to be late. I wasn't calling to verify my reservation, I was calling to be a courteous guest. I want my money refunded because it is not my fault that their system with Expedia has issues and updates their room inventory, but doesn't show who booked the room or that the staff said it only takes 15
