I have received the complaint from the homeowner and would like to respondFirst, I did notuse any of their tools, I supplied my own toolsThe homeowner said that I "ripped themicrowave off of the wall," however, as you can see in our contract I did not do any demo intheir kitchen, that was agreed
to be the responsibility of the homeownerAll subcontractors arelicensed and boded in the state of Oregon and CCB numbers can be supplied upon request. The plumber and I have a longstanding relationship and he was paid in full prior to thecompletion of the jobThe fine that the homeowner spoke of was accrued prior to our contractbased on work done prior to the homeowner buying the houseI offered to speak to the city ontheir behalf to help navigate the processI spoke to the case worker several times on thehomeowner's behalfWhich in turn I relayed and updated the homeowners of the status ofthere caseAt that time, the case worker from the city of Portland was also sending mailers ofthe updatesThe case worker can be contacted to confirm thisI was unaware of the lead paintcertification and am currently enrolled in a class for lead certificationAll work was completed tothe satisfaction of the homeowner, as is evidenced by the closing of the contractI believe thehomeowner is upset about the pre-existing fine and would like me to financially takeresponsibility for it, I have not agreed to do so, which lead them to contacting you.In working with this homeowner I experienced many challengesThe homeowners wrote me abounced checkIn addition, they were extremely hostile throughout the project, to the point ofharassmentI have included documentation to show their hostility, as well as documentation forthe bounced check, the pre-existing fine, all permits that were completed, permits for the postelectricalwork, and the contract and scope of work.Thank you,Cascadia Construction and Design

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
It is full of lies, not that I would expect honesty from him. 1) He did rip the microwave off the wall, and when I got home he told me how he didn't know how to remove it so the just pulled it off. It would have taken less than 5 minutes to google the pdf instructions on how to get the screws out. He is correct, according to the contract he was not suppose to be taking it down but that didn't stop him. He shouldn't have used some of our tools and for the most part they did bring their own tools. But they were using our saw horses in the the upstairs and did break my hammer. I had to remove the saw horses from the house, then they brought their own. The hammer was hidden in my garage after it was broke. Just like the child safety lock that was ripped of the window frame was hidden behind the curtain after the broke it because they couldn't figure out how to get the window open. I'm glad the plumber was finally paid, that doesn't mean he he didn't stall for a week and not return the plumbers phone calls. Both the plumber and his apprentice made it very clear they could have gotten the job done a week earlier if Anthony would have returned their phone calls. And They also said when they had asked for payment the first time he had said he didn't have any money yet. I can provide his phone number. The man used for tile work does not have a license, When I asked him he said he works under Anthony's license.  I can supply his name and number. I do not want to get him in trouble, he is very nice and was a very hard worker. My point of all of this is Anthony cannot be trusted and all consumers should be aware. As far as the electrical permit, Anthony had said he would "take care of the electrical and work with the city" Anastasia has very detailed notes of speaking with Anthony. Unfortunately he did not communicate that we would be getting a fine if a permit was not filed. His constant response to us was "I'm taking  care of it" I will get the permits with all the other permits to save time. We want to get them all at once to save money" When I spoke with Anastasia and she read back the notes, I realized he had been lying to us. Unfortunately by this time construction had already started. He also subtracted it from the contract. The 5th payment was originally $5,318 but as you can see by his revised bill he deducted the electrical payment changing the owed amount to $$4,178. He was able to supply you with copies of the permitting issues because he took all the paperwork from us when he said he would "take care of it".He is correct, we are upset. The only reason the bathroom is complete was because we had to constantly ask him to correct his poor work. Angel, who did the tile, again I can supply his number, was the one who said the grout was ruined from the sheet rockers sanding before the grout was dry. No the picture he turned in does not show what was wrong with the grout. And he never came in and looked at the grout. His tiler, Angel & Edwin came in and redid the grout. And yes my husband sent 1 angry text. But it did not call him names nor did it threaten him, it said we were sick and tired of his poor workmanship and lies. He was done at this point with one more thing needing to be redone. This does not constitute harassment. Having him fix 2 walls that are not plumb/level, a window that was installed not level, dealing with his lying regarding his knowledge on how to protect my children and family from lead dust, got him 1 angry text in 8 months? This was not a hostile environment.  But yes all of this has lead to much frustration. I would hate to see another consumer deal with him. That is why I am writing this letter. So other consumers will be very cautious and hopefully make a different decision and not work with him. There are stories after stories of how consumers are taken advantage of by contractors. He clearly does not know what he is doing. On the last day I saw him, he even apologized for how poorly everything was done. He said he is very new to this and he had never worked on a project this size and it was over his head. Which doesn't make everything we went through ok, but It does show he knew he was wrong and this was a complete mess. There is no need to further contact him. As I said, this was just to alert other consumers. People can read our complaint and make a decision to either work with him or not.
Sincerely,
