The customer had come in at the end of the day and asked about a rear wheel making noise. I told him the techs had left for the...

day, but I could drive the car in the parking lot and give him my opinion. After pulling car forward & backward I didn't hear anything so I parked the car.
The bumper did scrape the curb and a clipped in section did come out. I pulled the car in the shop and lifted it up. The customer had put the clipped in section back in, I asked him if it was ok and said it was. He then asked about a crack in the plastic suggesting that I had broken it. I pointed out the dirt that was in the crack as well as the scratches, scrapes and missing paint
as well as general wear from his bumper being low and hitting several curbs and/or parking blocks he agreed and then started asking about exhaust repairs and removing his catalytic converters, and installing his converter eliminator pipes, when I told him that it was against the law he became anxious so I let the car down and he left.
The same customer had been in a few months prior and asked for help with exhaust hangers. He could not get them to fit properly. The tech that was working on the car(not me) had commented on the poor condition of the car!!
I have been with this company for 28 years and have parked thousands of cars in our lot with out incident. While there was damage to the bumper none of it was fresh.
As far as the person he spoke with on the phone, they were not here when the incident took place.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (2000, 7, 2015/07/08) */
(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
The first time I went to Casey's to get a small exhaust hanger fixed they were very fair and I was satisfied but I do happen to recall the man that I am filing this complaint against being involved in the fix of that job,As for the condition of the vehicle, the body was damaged from an accident but as caseys could have seen. The body was all fixed and repainted by the time I had made my second visit. The second visit after he had damaged my car I was very upset and frustrated when he lifted my car and was not too interested in the damage he had done. I was not very vocal of my dissatisfaction as I am only 19 and not really aware of what to do in legal/business situations. So I assumed he would take care of his mistake to maintain customer satisfaction like any other reputable business would, but sadly I was mistaken. I asked about the exhaust work thinking that he might cut me a deal or even do the work as a courtesy for his mistake. He told me no and explained about the legality of it(which I did not know). I wasn't even concerned over the exhaust. My frustration was coming from the fact that he still did not Acknowledge what he did and was basically showing me the door. I am honestly not surprised with the response I received. I have heard not so great reviews on you guys and your inability to own up to a defect in service just solidifies it. And as for working for 28+ years as a mechanic I don't see how you wouldn't be qualified to check a squeaky wheel
