Initial Business Response /* (1000, 6, 2016/11/09) */
Your car was towed from the [redacted] on Bessemer for a violation of NCGS § 20-219.2. Removal of unauthorized vehicles from private lots. We have a contract (see attached) with the property owner at this location to remove vehicles...

that are in violation. The Asst. Manager contacted our company and requested that your vehicle be removed from their property because it was illegally parked. You mention that the vehicle has mechanical problems, but no arrangements were made with the store for permission to leave it. Also the vehicle started and was driven out of our lot without problems. The reason why the vehicle was parked is not relevant to the matter at hand.
You state that you were charged $250.00 for the private impound. I am attaching a copy of your invoice, (which you signed in protest) that state charges of $200.00
Our contract with property owners to provide private impound services are the same all over the city, to tow a vehicle requires a truck and dolly wheels to safely remove and tow to our lot. That cost is $200.00 We did not enforce our $36.00 storage fee on your car.
You mention that you are concerned about the requirement that we only accept cash for impounds, we elect to require this due to fraudulent claims by previous customers that caused chargeback to our credit card processing. The fact that our fees are required in cash is included in our contract. These stipulations are commonplace in this industry. As is our practice of waiving the storage if the owner contacts us and makes future arrangements to pick up their vehicle.
You question the amount charge to tow your vehicle, you are correct the cost could be between $100-$125, if this was a tow during normal business hours and we have the keys and are able to tow with out dollies. But NOT for an impound. Our private impound fees are actually less that the cost of a impound performed by us for the NCSHP.
You mention that you were concerned that your vehicle was towed in gear and make an assumption that there may be something wrong with your front end. As I mentioned earlier, to properly tow an illegally parked car that we do not have keys for we must lift and suspend all 4 wheels completely off the ground. Therefore your wheels did not turn at all during the process. It costs more to take this extra step, but again it is necessary. Our driver noted existing damage to the front of your car prior to his interaction with your vehicle. It is noted on the tow invoice.
We offer this explanation as resolution to your concerns, you were treated fairly and consistent with all other customers. We regret that you are unsatisfied, but this is unfortunately common when someone's vehicle is towed without their permission. I hope I have explained and address all of your concerns, we are happy to explain in more detail if you require.
