Review: Company altered my original check, altered date, amount, crossed off spouse name on check, wrote in amount from original $300 to $225, WHAT I OWE THEM, wrote in written amount for $225, put social security # on check. Company was told not to send check in because no money in bank account, so they altered check and sent to Wells Fargo which returned the check, charged me $35.00 (copy of check enclosed to Revdex.com).

Company altered my original check by amount to $225 and written in amount and added by SSN also to what I owe them.

Company was told not to send check in because no money in bank account so they altered check & sent to Wells Fargo bank which returned the check & charged me $35 overdraft fee. Copy of check attached.Desired Settlement: Pay fees from bank overdraft of $35.00 at Wells Fargo and consider debt paid in full. $225 plus any other fees company adds on because they committed fraud by altering check.

Initial Business Response

To Whom It May Concern:

This communication is in response to your correspondence on November 25, 2013, regarding the above-referenced matter. Cash1 appreciates the role the Revdex.com plays in mediating consumer complaints.

Our records indicate that the [redacted]'s requested loans from Buckeye Check Cashing of California, LLC ("Cash1") and both Mr. and Mrs. [redacted]'s loans had an agreed-upon repayment date of which they each provided a check, as security, to pay the loans back on the agreed upon date. At the time their loans came due, The [redacted]'s requested an Extended Payment Plan ("EPP") as they were both unable to pay their loan in full at that time. We made the arrangements for the [redacted]'s to each enter into an EPP; however, they failed to make their payment on time. The [redacted]'s did not make any further payments as agreed and, as a result, their original checks were deposited. The [redacted]'s checks were subsequently returned as an unpaid item by their financial institution. At this time the [redacted]'s do not have an outstanding balance; their accounts reflect paid in full.

The [redacted]'s state in their complaint, that their checks were altered by a customer service representative at their retail branch location. These concerns have been addressed with management, and I would like to assure the [redacted]'s that it is neither the policy nor practice of Cash1. Cash1 is committed to high standards of customer care and service. Our employees are trained to be professional and supervisors observe employees regularly to make sure that they are professional. Any employees who fall short of Cash1's customer service expectations and policies are counseled about appropriate behavior and, where called for, are reprimanded or terminated if they are unable to meet these expectations. The [redacted]'s complaint has been reviewed with the branch employee involved, and this employee has been reminded of Cash1's commitment to customer service.

We'd like to take this opportunity to apologize to the [redacted]'s regarding this experience. Cash1 values this type of feedback, and we appreciate the time that they have taken to document their concerns from their perspective of the transaction. As a result of the [redacted]'s complaint, we will be able to improve the "in store" experience for other customers.

Once again the [redacted]'s accounts are showing a paid in full balance and they received a letter of confirmation on November 22, 2013; we hope the [redacted]'s find closure in this response. If I can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Final Consumer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)

The letter above is wrong, the original checks were presented to bank in an altered form as sent to Revdex.com copies of the checks. And the business sent them in after I asked them not to as there was no money in bank and when they sent them in they was altered... Just a point of fact and we did make the first payment on 23 oct 2013 on the EPP plan and after that is when they sent the altered checks in. thank you.
